The deserving

I do not believe in just giving poor people money. I refuse to hand cash to beggars.

I know that may seem hard-hearted. But I think differently. I think just handing money out is demeaning and a bad idea.

I think people should get paid for contributing. Even if it is just pulling weeds or cleaning up the area. I am happy to have people get paid for low<b> skilled </font></b>jobs.

But getting something for nothing is not a good idea. It cuts off the connection between work and reward. I do not like the idea of a victim getting something for free.

Now I have no problem with compensation for an injury such as worker's comp or a pension for a disabled worker or vet.

Even a young or old person can do something to earn money. I think earning is better than begging.
