Defined by sexual harassment

Among the many stories about Hollywood and sexual harassment is the Dustin Hoffman vs. Meryl Streep story. Meryl as a young actress was groped by Dustin, and he slapped her and remarked about her dead boyfriend during filming as a method actor of the oscar winning Kramer vs. Kramer. Meryl did not want or need his method, as she had her own method.

Dustin did not deny the assertions, but claims he is not defined by these long ago incidents. Sadly, not true. Despite many excellent acting jobs, he is now defined as a sexual harasser. Not a grapist, not a criminal, but another male abusing his power and privilege to take advantage of a young and vulnerable female.

Consent is the key. A male is allowed to express sexual interest in an adult female, but non-consensual touching and crude language are not allowed. Joking is ok, but not rudeness or offensive behavior. Obviously force, drugging or even date pushiness to the point of coercion is not proper.

Begging, pleading and promises of everlasting joy are not fair, but have been useful for some... Taking advantage of good looks, youth, charm and a winning smile are legal, if slightly unfair. It is tough being a human with a sex drive. The harassment chickens are coming home to roost. We are going to need a bigger hen house.
