One year of Trump

Tired of all the winning yet? Me too. So many firsts. The first modern President of the US who kept campaigning after winning. All previous presidents understood they had to unite the country and perform for all, including those who did not vote for him. Not Trump. He only cares about his base and the rich. Sadly, that is not working so well.

Turns out ignoring the Democrats does not get much legislation passed, or keep the government funded.

Shumer said it correctly. Negotiating with Trump is impossible as he changes his mind and positions. Trump does not know what he wants. He has no principles or positions. One minute he will sign whatever Congress does agree upon as far as DACA goes. The next he demands total tightening on legal and illegal immigration.

Shumer said negotiating with Trump was like trying to do so with jello. That was insulting to jello. So far nothing too horrible has happened. Lawsuits, bureaucrats and states have fought the worst impulses. With luck the midterm elections will give the Democrats control over the House of Representatives. Trump will be largely stymied.

If we can just avoid nuclear war with Korea and a trade war with China and Mexico, we will stumble threw and make it to 2020. I can barely wait for President Oprah. Even if she has to take a pay cut to help us out.

45 Republicans in the senate voted to continue the funding the government.
Excuse me? Excuse me, but aren't there *51* Republicans in the senate now?
I'm kind of tired of all the whining, I mean "winning"...

Well at least the Children health insurance program is funded for six years. Now Trump is saying he agrees to a path to citizenship for the Dreamers. Trump wants to waste 25 billion on a wall with Mexico. He does not understand the issues in the immigration fights. There are many changes needed to improve immigration and get high skilled workers into the U.S. One of the reasons the economy is doing well is the efforts of immigrants in the U.S.

The bipartisan deal to keep the government funded will improve the situation. But now immigration is the next big hurdle. More Asian and Hispanic citizens need to register and vote to get the clout needed to make positive changes happen.

Nov. 2018 will make a big difference if the Democrats are energized and win big to take over Congress or at least one house...

Who knew Trump could get worse as he learned how to trust his own instincts. A trade war with the whole world seemed impossibly stupid. Nothing is too great for his....
