How To Tie Rope For Bondage

Doing a photo shoot in a couple weeks with ropes. Can't wait.

In the meantime here is some useful information if you want to try for yourself.

Will you use this info on your partner? Do you think they would try if you asked?

You and your partner are definitely in for a wild night in the bedroom (or bathroom, kitchen, basement-wherever!) when you know how to tie rope for bondage. Bondage and other forms of S&M can be an extremely erotic way to add some excitement and variety to your love life.
If you are using rope for bondage, you will need to decide who will be the submissive partner and who will be the dominant partner, since only one of you will likely have your hands free. Once you decide on your roles and review the safety risks, you can get ready to get the rope out of the closet and onto your partner's body. Here are some of the basic things to consider before you tie rope for bondage.

Choose your rope. Rope comes in several different varieties. Nylon rope will hold a knot, as it is durable and strong. Unpolished marine rope that is made from polyester is also stiff enough to hold a knot. Hemp and cotton ropes are popular due to their natural composition and moderately abrasive texture. Sisal rope can also be used for those people who seek a rougher, more physically painful bondage experience.

Choose rope size and length. Body harnesses for the torso, breasts, pelvis, and genital regions as well as wrist and ankle cuffs are best formed with six mm or eight mm rope. Take 25 feet for the larger areas, and twelve and a half feet for the cuffs. If you're looking to have a seriously torturous time, use three or four mm rope on the genital and or breast area.
Decide how you will tie up your partner. There are many different ways to engage in bondage and rope play. You can tie a person's limbs together, attach a harness to her torso, tie her to a bedpost or even suspend her from the ceiling. Whatever you choose, make sure to select an appropriate knot or hitch, as they are not all safe for the same types of bondage.

Once you've got your rope ready, pick a knot or two and give it a whirl. Below are some of the more common bondage knots.

Square Knot (Reef Knot). This basic knot is best suited for tying the ends of two ropes together. It is a fairly flat knot, and does not inflict as much pressure on the skin as other knots. It is a good knot to use when first tying rope for bondage or trying out BDSM.

French Bowline Knot. Especially effective for hand and ankle cuffs, the French bowline will not cut off circulation and is less risky than other knots.

Clove Hitch and Half Hitch. These knots are two of the easiest to tie and work well when securing a rope to a bedpost. They can cut off circulation when enough pressure is applied, so they should not be used for suspension, to tie around the body, or with wrist and ankle cuffs.

Lark's Head (Cow Hitch). This is a fairly weak knot and is a good one to use around the main torso. It should not be used around a pole or around limbs.
Remember, only use bondage rope if you and your partner(s) have consented. There are some safety risks and other physical and mental considerations to review. Once you determine what kind of bondage to use, be certain that you take all of the corresponding precautions and read the aftercare suggestions. In general, it is a good idea to have scissors handy in case the ropes need to be cut in an emergency.

I wish I could read the captions on the pictures. Maybe it's because I'm on a smartphone, but they're illegible.

I've only been tied up with ropes once. It was interesting, and I would do it again. My biggest issue is that setting up the ropes takes a while, and I've seen some doms/dommes take 45+ minutes with an elaborate rigging. Then, after playing for maybe 10-15 minutes, there spending another 30+ minutes undoing all the knots. The domme who tied me up was pretty fast, but it still took a while for everything -- chest/body harness, wrist harnesses, attaching me to a post, etc.

While I appreciate the effort these people put into the rope harnesses and rigging, and the general artistry of some people, I'd rather just slip into wrist restraints (and ankle restraints, too, if needed) and spend more scene time on the actual scene.

You do have to set aside a lot of Additional time if you are going to play with ropes.

The photo sucks sorry. Found it online and used it more for display. I wish I could read the words too.
