A busy time of year

It has been a busy time of year for me, and things have not been very peachy, my corn crop really went to hell with all the rain we had this growing season. My soil really holds the water and it locked up the fertilizer I applied for the corn crop. Normally my corn plants are 8-12 feet tall. This year they plants averaged 4-5 foot tall. But that's farming. My soybeans are doing better and I believe they will save the whole year. My cell service has been getting steadily worse all summer and fall. I noticed that I had been here and replied to several blogs but had problems posting. I guess just poor service with my internet service. Like this morning I had to go to a different part of the farm a little over half a mile away to get internet service. Ha ha like my motto in farming, if it was easy everyone would be doing it. Ha ha have a great day and maybe things will get closer to normal in the future.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right

The weather can really make or break a farmers year. It's a risk. I will cross my fingers the soybeans make you great money.
Call your cell provider and ask them whats going on? Did a tower puke and die? Do you need a booster? If it's just a doorstop its not worth the monthly fee.

Yep the weather can really screw up a year, glad I don't have all my eggs in one basket. Ha ha the cell phones have been going down hill since early summer, and several neighbors have said the same thing with the same carrier. I have a signal booster and it isn't helping at all. Maybe I need to call about it. Good idea

Always has to do with balance Big - and while rain is def very imp to farmers, too much can be harmful, so sorry bout your "corn crop", and truly a good thing you have "soybeans" as well! Guess they are more hardy? Every time I see the prices of soya on TV, think of you! Hope you are having a great weekend right now?! (Oh, and can def relate to your Internet issues - I've luckily found a solution to the prob, and funny enough am using a smart fone as a dongel on my laptop - go figure, cos often when using the cell to talk to someboday, like you have to walk about to find the perfect place!)

Yes it's definitely a balancing act between to much rain and not enough. Corn will tolerate the cooler weather, so we plant it in the early spring, soybeans like the hot humidity of summer so it's planted later. Right after I planted my corn we started getting a lot of rain, we had our yearly average by June, the soil was so wet it just stunned the plants. On the bright side, next year will be better. Ha ha have a great weekend yourself, sexy.
