"Positively Un-American........."

Laughing as I write this. I just talked with someone who asked me if I were watching the Super Bowl today. I said, "no, not planning to". Then, he told me it was "positively un-American of me to not watch the BIG game".

I am having dinner guests so will be in the kitchen making dinner and dessert......so, I will be busy. But, honestly.....not sure I would watch it anyway.

What do you think? Is it "un-American" to not watch the BIG game?
.

Slept right through most of it, only saw last 1:50 of it to see Sea Hawks blow it. Have it saved on DVR to watch sometime.

Glad you enjoyed the game! I would have loved to have gone to the beach with your friend and have left this Minnesota cold and snow behind for a bit!

lol lots of people out there not watching the big game.. I will be watching and I want to see those US commercials since they were not shown last year. We got only Canadian ones showing.. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr., hugsssss V
Hi V, Yes, the commercials and the half time show are what I would enjoy were I watching. My company just left....we had a nice dinner. They usually have a special that just shows the commercial later in the week ....I will watch that if I am home.

Hugs and kisses,

The, BIG GAME is just a game, but if you stop and think about it, it's powers to unite the masses is truly amazing, the comradery , the feeling of belonging on a side, I agree , some people are consumed by it, and of course it is a huge money making busness endever, in our busy day to day work lifes, we need someone or something to route for that has more excitment then our daily routine.
Yep, i'll be watching the BIG GAME.
Hi Hunter! I have missed seeing you in Cloud Nine. You are right about the Super Bowl having the power to unite. I am hoping that you enjoy the game and that whichever team you are championing plays their best!.

The culture of sports is just disgusting in America. I've heard in times past the kids would get sad after their favorite team lost and the parents would say "alright that's enough of that, now go finish your homework." Now we have grown men and women going in weeks long states of depression because some rich guys who don't give a crap about you lost a meaningless game.

I like the movie Bronx Tale when the mob boss tells Robert De Niro's son, who was sad when the Yankees lost and Mickey Mantle cried, "Mickey Mantle makes 100,000 dollars a year. When your father can't pay his rent go ask Mickey Mantle and see what he says."
heartshaped, Hello and thank you for commenting on my blog! I agree with you and also feel sad that sportsmanship and honor seem to have left in professional sports. I know it is not all of them....there are still some good role models out there. I guess wishing that they all were is too much to ask.

LOL...LOL...LOL. No Dear, it is not unAmerican to not watch the superbowl. That's just one of us sports fanatics going, well, fanatical. Heck, I hate baseball, and that's Americas' favorite pass-time. But I'm as American as apple pie.
Hi saw_guy, Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on this thread. The person who said that to me just happens to be my younger brother! It is not that I don't like football, it is ok. It just doesn't mean that much to me and I do have other things to do.

Hope you enjoyed the game, if you watch(ed) it!

hugs,
