*** Armed Forces day
Today is Armed Forces Day here in the US. A day designated to encourage citizens to thank veterans for their service to the country. It is not a federal holiday. I think it is important, because many of our Veterans served in time of peace and do not get the recognition for their commitment to serve. So take a moment and say a thanks to a veteran. Many countries have a similar day. What date is your Armed Forces Day?

Below is some background information

On August 31, 1949, Louis Johnson, who was the United States’ Secretary of Defense, announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy and Air Force Days. The event stemmed from the armed forces’ unification under one department – the Department of Defense. The Army, Navy and Air Force leagues adopted the newly formed day. The Marine Corps League declined to drop support for Marine Corps Day but supports Armed Forces Day too.

 A Salute to all that has served. Either it be in the Navy, Army or the Air force all your contributions were so worth it to make our country free again.

It is Victoria Day weekend here in Canada. We don't do Arm forces day this weekend as you guys too.. hugs V

 They are having luncheons, and barbecues here for all of the men and women who have and are serving..
