+++ Labor Day

+++ Labor Day Labor Day is annually held on the first Monday of September. It was originally organized to celebrate various labor associations' strengths of and contributions to the United States economy. It is largely a day of rest in modern times. Many people mark Labor Day as the end of the summer season and a last chance to make<b> trips </font></b>or hold outdoor events. The first Labor Day was held in 1882. Its origins stem from the desire of the Central Labor Union to create a holiday for workers. It became a federal holiday in 1894. It was originally intended that the day would be filled with a street parade to allow the public to appreciate the work of the trade and labor organizations. After the parade, a festival was to be held to amuse local workers and their families. In later years, prominent men and women held speeches. This is less common now, but is sometimes seen in election years. One of the reasons for choosing to celebrate this on the first Monday in September was to add a holiday in the long gap between Independence Day and Thanksgiving. Do you celebrate the day? I have childhood memories pf the day, the parade, picnics, softball games that inevitably resulted very temporary maiming of adults.  Did you do anything special today?          |

It is the end of summer for us. We will have a nice picnic at home and enjoy the day

Today, I will laze around at home but yesterday I was at a festival celebrating our logging history. I got to watch the Mid-Michigan Professional Lumberjack competition. Since I don't have any kids in school, summer is now based on the weather. Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

Also according to my Mother it is labor day because she was in labor 6 hours on September 3, my birth day. HAPPY LABOR DAY TO ALL MY WORKING FRIENDS OUT THERE

Sadly it is officially end of summer. Kids are back in school. We use to go to the parades when I was younger. Now I am just taking it easy today. Golf tonight. We got only a few games left to play. Have a great celebration today hugs V Become a blog watcher sweet_vm

Happy Monday Pal, it's a great day to celebrate, but its been years since we have had a family celebration as everyone has their own lives now. I am taking it easy and making a slow roasted barbecued tri-tip today, with some garlic, buttered pasta, and some steamed veges, and I may even bake a cake today. I hope you enjoy your day and drink a few beers for me too.. Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..
