Spice it up? :)

Stepping out of my naughty teasing style for today (well I am going to try anyways). I was chatting with a friend and of course was giving unsolicited cooking advice ( I do have lucid non sex oriented conversations sometimes). I started to think, there are several lady bloggers that include food in their posts,, , so I thought I would share a couple spices that I think I could not cook without (salt and black pepper are always a staple). The list is not inclusive, but is influenced by my time in Thailand and Puerto Rico. Have you ever used these? Do you have a favorite spice? Looking forward to your input and comments.

OOPS already broke the non naughty promise

Cilantro, almost parsley like, but has a very unique flavor. Great when chopped and added to vegetables, meat or chicken is delicious. When used in conjunction with lime is so good.

Sazon,, Many different varieties, adds a great taste. I especially like it when used to make a yellow rice.

Sofrito,, I am not sure what other cultures may use this, but I was introduced to it in Puerto Rico, is a mixture of onions, various peppers, garlic, cilantro and each house wife in Puerto Rico prides themselves on individual additional ingredients. If I do not have the ingredients, I purchase it ready made. Use it to spice the rice,, meats, poultry etc.

Limes,,, They are good for so many things. I use them salads, over meat, fish and poultry. It is a great substitute for salt. I actually used have small packets of it with when I was in the field in the military as an alternative hot sauce make food palatable. If I can not get them fresh, I use the bottled variety.

OK,, this is not an oops, a deliberate choice, I always enjoy help in the kitchen

Good morning Pal, Happy Monday to you. You know I use a lot of Garlic, and Cumin, and Cilantro in my cooking. I would love to use onions but hubby doesn't like them but he likes onion powder, so I use a lot of that as well. I hope your day is a great start to your week..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

I'm limited to salt for cooking. It makes it pretty boring.

We do have some great food bloggers on here. I have always loved to use garlic and some herb spices depending what I am cooking. Seasoning on the meat is a must. Hugs V
