New Fiction: Cocksucker Blues - Chapter 1

"COCKSUCKER!"
The accusation from my assailant was surprisingly loud. The two coworkers who were pulling him away from me seemed a bit shocked and loosened their grip on his arms. Even my buddy Rick who was holding me back by the chest took his hand away. My assailant glanced around unsure of himself and straightened his shirt. He gave me his most menacing glare and turned away. As my pulsed stopped racing, I noticed that the room was silent which was rather unusual considering that it was the gigantic retail warehouse of the home improvement megastore in which I worked.
"What the fuck is going on here?" shouted Jim Leahy, my shift supervisor as he rushed into the hardware isle where the brief melee had taken place. Right on his heels was the pudgy Randy his sycophantic assistant. Seeing the curious stares from the other customers, Jim lowered his voice and hissed, "What's going on here?"
Rick and the other two who intervened in my brawl all started quietly talking and mumbling at once
"You suck just one cock and you're labeled for life," I loudly joked. Nobody laughed so I had to continue. "Not that I really did that, suck a cock I mean, but...not that there's anything wrong..."
"Julian here was in a fight with a customer, Mr Leahy," explained Randy.
"He was attacked, " said Rick.
"That's it," said Jim, "Get your shit and get out of here."
"Jim, now wait," said Rick. Rick was a tall lean man about ten years my senior.
"No," said Jim, "on a second thought, just get out of here. Randy, get him out of here."
"Hang on buddy," said Rick as Randy grabbed my sleeve and Jim turned to leave. "Wait for me outside. I'll get this straightened up."
"Out the back, Randy," said Jim as Randy started to drag me towards the front doors.

"What's going on in there?" asked Bubbles our large and nearsighted security guard as Randy and approached the doorway between the warehouse and loading docks.
"Julian was in a fight," replied Randy. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you have been in there?"
"I heard the commotion," said Bubbles as he pushed his thick glasses back up his nose, "but I had to stay here in case it was only a distraction. They will do that you know. They will make a distraction and then sneak out front door with the stuff."
"Bubbles, this is the back door," said Randy.
"Well, they will do the back door too."
"Come on let's go," said Randy ignoring Bubbles as he pulled on my sleeve to continue.
"See you Bubbles," I yelled over my shoulder as we left.
"Bye Julian."

"I think this is far enough," I said as Randy dragged me down the stairs beside the unloaded transport trailers.
"I need to see that you're completely off the property," replied Randy.
"Don't worry, I can find it myself," I said as I crossed the roadway to the empty dirt lot behind the store.
After Randy left, I didn't have to wait long before Rick showed up.
"Well buddy, here's your stuff," said Rick as he handed me a box containing my change of clothes and other odd personal effects from my locker.
"Did you get my dinner from the fridge?"
"Ah shit, sorry Julian."
"That's okay."
"So, what was that all about anyways? Why did that guy attack you?"
"Do you remember that Carolyn girl I was seeing?"
"Oh, yeah, you met her online."
"Well," I paused. "That guy was her husband."
"Dude. Why did you go there? That'a wrong."
"Is it really?" I asked. "She was already online looking. She would have cheated anyways. Besides, if nobody finds out, nobody gets hurt."
"I guess what you're implying is that the act of adultery is acceptable and ethical as long as the other partner does not find out?"
"Sort of, I think. She was going to leave him if she didn't cheat. What's worse, your wife having an affair that you never find out about or ending the marriage?"
"That cuts a bit too close to home," replied Rick."I've always believed that an act that brings people pleasure and happiness is moral as long as nobody is hurt by it, but what if it does have the potential of bringing somebody pain? That is something we never really touched in in philosophy."
"I'm glad you're putting your history degree to good use."
"Every workplace needs a resident philosopher," said Rick. "I hope the sex was good."
"The what?" I asked.
"The sex. You and Carolyn."
"We actually never did. We went out a couple times and then she stopped messaging. When she finally did get back to me it was to tell me that the attraction wasn't there."
"Oh, that really burns. How am I supposed to live vicariously through you if you're not having sex?"
"There is always Bubbles," I suggested. "He's single too."
Rick shuddered and asked, "So, how did he find out where you worked? You didn't mention it in an email?"
"I think she must have," I said. "She was going to meet me after work one day."
"Well, speaking of work, I'd better get back to it," said Rick as he turned to go.
"Did you grab my lunch from the fridge?"
"Oh shit, sorry dude. Did you want me to go get it?"
"No, that's okay. I'm sure I'll find something at home."
