 Well, it sounds like it might have been a browser issue. But sometimes you may never be sure. It's also possible it could have been a Windows 10 problem, that reinstalling Chrome and Firefox restored some compatibility.

Windows 10 is probably the most intrusive version of Windows yet. I wouldn't know for sure though, I let go of Windows some time ago.. But Windows updates have been known to break things that were known to be working just fine. But, yes - even an accidental mouse click can break things too.

At one time there was such a thing as restore points within Windows. I have no idea what all is (And is not) within Windows now. But sometimes restoring a computer back to a time before the problem started could solve things - but just as well sometimes not too..

 I have had no trouble using 10 with Chrome but I am having issues with this site losing my profile!! And a couple of others are going through similar problems. Must be endemic

 Win 10 is Crap'ola. When I have some time at home, I am going to put Win 7 Home Pro in as O/S.
Win10 removed a great deal of the computer owner;s control.

And Edge is just as pitiful. My cell phone operates more smoothly.
