Naturalism vs Naked

For decades naked was illegal save in special cases. One of those was Naturism or Nudism. Naturists films shown in special theaters or privately was considered a culture.

It was a pretty tame culture at that. An occasional volleyball game, skipping rope, swimming, or a bit of running was a good as it got. Somehow this was all managed with seldom a suggestion of pubic hair, bottoms and boobs the rule of the day and men wore loin cloths in most of them; if they did not there was nary an erection in sight.

And not much to get erect about. These films and photographs were incredibly dull and non sexual. There was lots of flesh, but not a drop of arousal in miles of footage despite the fact 90% of those shown were models with few imperfections and not real naturists with actual imperfections. Men were pretty desperate to see naked women then, but I can't imagine these were much better than the National Geographic.

There was a sort of half suggested idea that all that nudity might lead to a certain looser attitude toward sex, but it was not true in practice or in these fictionalized documentaries. The entire movement, real and on screen, was as wholesome as Mom's apple pie.

Eventually these were replaced to the more openly sexual Nudie Cuties, which gave way the exploitation films of Russ Meyer and the like, and finally in the late sixties a few Supreme Court decisions took porn out of the smokers held by the Chamber of Commerce in small towns across the country.

You would be amazed how boring attractive naked women playing volleyball can be to watch,

I've spent a fair amount of time being nude in mixed company, when I can, and I actually find that nudity actually isn't that all sexual. In the beginning, sure, but after the novelty wears off, and everyone's comfortable, it's really not sexual at all. In fact, I'd say it's the exact opposite. I suppose when everyone has everything hanging out, little is left to the imagination...? I'm sure there's a better way to explain that but, that could be one of the pointers.
That was pretty much my point. After a while as you relax it stops being sexual and just becomes blasé.

My first wife danced at the Crazy Horse in Paris and my mother and her sisters were models when I was younger and I'd be backstage at either place and it was organized chaos, but the nudity wasn't all that sexual, yet the same people on stage could become sexual again.

When you divorce nudity from its naughty side it grows banal fairly quickly.

I have no problem at a hot tub party or a pool party with a few people, but I don't think I would have cared for the naturist camps much. I was never hung up about nudity but casual nudity like at some European beaches and institutional nudity like the camps are two different things.

I'm a stay at home nudist as well. There are things I don't want sunburned, but I was a little more open in France where it was casual and not enforced, just something on the beach. You might sunbathe nude then put on your suit to swim or walk to the outdoor bar.

I don't think I would have made it as a naturist.

The people I have known who tried natruism or did it regularly said that after the first couple of hours you stopped looking everyone in the eyes all the time and relaxed not noticing you were nude. I know several guys who thought erections would be a problem, but said they weren't and they actually thought they had fewer sexual thoughts.

I've sunbathed nude in mixed company and I can attest to the part about relaxing after a while. I can't say the lack of sexual thoughts worked for me though since I was sunbathing either with an aunt who looked like Ava Gardner or later a wife who looked a little like Bardot. She, at least, appreciated the compliment.
