Buddha's smile
In serenity of your sleep
as you sleep in crumpled heap
a hint of Buddha's smile
been recovering for a while
reached here through rapids of life
the clanging sounds of strife
no obvious war zones exist here
only in your innocent scarred heart dear
promises broken or compromises spent
how the straightest arrows can be bent
when the heart rules the mind
when we believe the easy illusions find
life rarely rewards memories gained easily
to<b> love </font></b>and not<b> love </font></b>in return needlessly
taunting karma to take a pound of flesh
drive you mad and make you less
a someone lost in lies of world's own making
not sure what is real and who is faking
now you rest and sleep in this bed
resting the voices quarrelling in your head
and I watch over you and must conclude
I know not tomorrow and will not you delude
all we can do is act for the best of who we are
hope to soar across tawdry world bizarre
and you have a small smile on edge of lip
a mark of sensual loving rich into which we dip
when need an ounce of fire to continue on our way
to live life and<b> love </font></b>for another uncomplicated day.
