The Sea Rushing In

The Sea Rushing In
I hear the sea rushing in
a tsunami of sensation
a sound to drag me under
to make me greater things ponder
the freckle on your<b> wrist
</font></b>the smile you sometimes twist
when humour is to wry
as if this tart taste too strong
and sometimes when we kiss
beside the surging sea
I hear only waves
breaking on a distant shore
I am in a place apart
a place of my heart
your lips are ships carrying me
to some distant horizon
a place I have never been
and yet comfort as you take me
knowing this place was always there
found through you my conduit
to a brighter life more fair
a heat sweeps through my body
my every muscle sings
I am a choir of thoughts
this kiss the greatest hymn
sacred and abiding
eternal and gripping tight
you are the morning Sun blazing
you are the Sea's reflected night
the wave tips phosphorescent glow
sweeping in around us
a sound of life never ending
and in our kiss we warm our souls
breach the walls of spirit
and flow into each other.
