New snow

New snow

We got snow yesterday. It was warm and wet, and we took Gracie to the park again. She had a wonderful time, and played in the puddle left by the rain from the day before. She was icing up on her flanks and the backs of her legs. We had to thaw her out before we could give her a rubdown with a towel.

Last night the temperature dropped to six degrees and we got a few more inches of snow. I found two pretty seedlings along the path in Al Sabo- I hope they make it through the winter. We likely won't see them again till spring. The lichen will be covered with snow too. We're going out again in a few minutes to take a look at what's changed over the last day.

Beau-ti-ful, KZ - would love to see your piece of heaven. Think a wee Pixie needs to add this to her bucket list!

Thanks! And yes, they got covered overnight. We only got two or three inches but there is more on the way.

She loves being toweled off! She wants to bite me and the towel- it's a great game. I end up wrapping her head in one towel and hanging on while PD dries her off.

Enjoy your looking. A magnificant transformation. Everything goes to sleep and gets covered by that innocent white sheet. It packs everything in, actually keeps it safe from the colder temperatures in the air which are to come. Sometimes it looks as though some of the growths were not quite ready for their winter slumber. A twig with a leaf still hanging on as the snow grows upwards to engulf it.

Now that the snow we had has gone, we will go through that transformation once more. However most of the growths here seem to have understood that they should go to sleep for the winter

I do not want to go to sleep for the winter, but into a hive with a nice warm ladies body next to me ..... ha ha ha ha
That happened here too- we got twenty inches of snow in November and almost none in December. The weather was warm too. It's been an odd winter so far.

When it got cold here last night we spooned and stayed spooned!

We'll be here waiting. Gracie and I walked this afternoon for an hour and a half, just after I posted this. There are three inches of new snow and I couldn't find the seedlings. It was cold at first...maybe nine degrees F, but once we had walked a quarter mile I had to unzip my jacket and take off my ski mask. By the time we'd done a mile I was working up a sweat. The cool air is crisp and bracing!

I must say, if I were an explorer, everything north of the Texas border would be undiscovered wilderness. Brrrrrrr, Central America is sounding pretty good right now.
I'd like to see Central America too!

So does Gracie! Would you bite the towel...and me...like she does? She thinks it's her cue that she's on WWE and she goes all Mexican wrestler on me.
