We've been back on the trail for a week and had another gorgeous autumn day- sixty nine degrees, sunny and breezy, so we did the five mile round trip<b> hike </font></b>out to the north shore of Atwater pond. We haven't been there in a couple of months and the leaves are beginning to get colorful.

Every day shows the changes now. The forecast is for continued sunny weather, but in past autumns it has turned cold and damp, the wind blowing the leaves down with never a chance to watch them, so we don't want to miss a day in the Preserve. Today could always be our last chance to see the change of seasons at its best.

It was warm hiking and Gracie took a dip in the pond at the landbridge. We didn't carry any water for her and she was thirsty. PD and I are feeling the hikes- after two months off we have to get in shape again, and we were getting tired legs before we reached the fence near the edge of the preserve.

I always try to get some special pictures, that I can't post here, for a good blogger friend. There are some cute hikers and runners out there, so I usually snap some shots of them, often as they're walking or running past. I made a rule that I'd never post the pics here, on a sex site, but I got lucky and there's a cool photo of some tail here for him, the first picture posted. Hope you enjoy it, my friend!

 Thank you! Nice to see you back here again!
We LOVE hiking in the woods, and the picture taking grew out of that. I haven't even begun to tap into what the camera will do- I just got it in June and I didn't touch it during the warmer months when we stopped hiking. I hope to get better with it.

 It was 100* here today and tomorrow going to be hotter

Just looking at the serenity like this is healing. I love all photos but there are two I just want to steal!

It's been a hell of a summer out there! We had pretty nice weather- fairly cool. It's gorgeous right now, Pet, for October. Temperatures in the fifties and sixties, plenty of sunshine.

We deteriorate quickly! We started out easy at about two and three quarters to three miles and it was whipping my ass. I've been climbing ladders and working around the place so I figured I'd be OK with walking. Even Gracie was getting tired at five miles but she wouldn't admit it. She DID go right into nap mode when we got home, though.

It's hard to keep her out of the water. There's a plank walk to an island in the marsh and she just won't stay on the planks- she doesn't see why they're needed. Every time we go out there she comes back mucky.

I am a hiker as well, and have done many trails in the area where Virginia, Tennessee, and Nawth Carolina meet. Only did a bit of minor hiking earlier in the Spring. I've been stretching and getting ready for another climb up the hill as soon as may be. Yowsa!

The weather here in the Piedmont of N.C. has been fantastic!

Thanks Keith. Damn, you live in a beautiful place. I first drove that way decades ago when I started driving a semi. I came down Eighty one from Wilkes Barre, PA headed for Knoxville. It was one of those blustery spring days when it would alternately rain and shine, and the Shenandoah valley was breathtaking. Leaving Knoxville I drove through the Smokies to Asheville. It's magnificent country.
