Burns and Crystals Medley

O my Luve's like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my Luve's like the melodie
That’s sweetly play'd in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I:
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry:

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun:
I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life do ron.

Da do ron ron ron, da do ron ron.

I met him on a Monday and my heart stood still
Da do ron-ron-ron, da do ron-ron
Somebody told me that his name was Bill
Da do ron-ron-ron, da do ron-ron

Yeah, my heart stood still
Yes, his name was Bill
And when he walked me home
Da do ron-ron-ron, da do ron-ron

I knew what he was doing when he caught my eye
Da do ron-ron-ron, da do ron-ron
He looked so quiet but my oh my
Da do ron-ron-ron, da do ron-ron

Yeah, he caught my eye
Yes, oh my, oh my
And when he walked me home
Da do ron-ron-ron, da do ron-ron

And fare thee weel, my only Luve
And fare thee weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ it were ten thousand mile.

Ten thousand miles? Where on earth would they be coming from? I like your Medley. It brings me back...
He's a poet- you're a poet. Cut him some slack. He's speaking figuratively. There were detours.

It's a great poem and a great song. I can never hear one without thinking of the other. When my wife was growing up she wanted so badly to be part of a Motown girl group, and all glamorous, and I wanted to be Rhymin' Robin Burns, and all prickly and outspoken.

Well William been a looong time since I heard that one. BTW, what happened to the pics form your walks?

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Nothing happened to them because I didn't post them. You have to post them for the site to make them disappear. Once they're posted, even God doesn't know where they go.

I bought a new laptop, and I hate the new photo app. I like the Retina display, but there are a number of changes that I don't like, and I'm not at all used to seeing a graphics app for a Mac that's as shitty as this one. I found a photo editor that I think will be just fine- I don't edit my pics much or often, but once in a while I will tweak the exposure a bit. The new "Photos" app eats pictures. In addition, I can't navigate this site AT ALL lately. It simply doesn't function. So I've been holding off on posting new pics. I'm a bit surprised that you folks even found my post, it's been that bad for me. Something has to change, and it might be me.

    Love this medley!

Growing up I wanted: to be astronomer at 5; run away with circus at 7 (that idea was doomed from the beginning - my grandfather warned me about outdoor plumbing and bugs); to be a courtesan for Louis XIV at 8; become a pirate at 9 (seriously considered this); to travel all mystical places, including Sodom and Gomorrah and Tartarus, and maybe spend the rest of my life looking for Atlantis, at 10; at 14 I once again wanted to become a courtesan; then, I grew up and wanted to be a librarian because their reading choices weren't limited by their fathers.
I think I was stuck on farming for most of my youth, but Burns was a farmer, a crofter of sorts, so that was OK. It was his ode "To a Mouse" that first got my attention, appropriately.

It was the last two words of that stanza - do run- that did me in. Years ago I made that association and it stuck. There's the jarring difference in style, male and female voices...but I've already said too much. They just sound cool juxtaposed like that. And the Crystals are SO sexy, especially Lala.

You gave me a pretty impossible deadline on that abduction. I figured you were just teasing me. Meet me in Saint Louis?

Ha! I'd forgotten all about them! That would fit, wouldn't it?
The Crystals never recorded on the Motown label that I know of, but they had that same sound that was so much fun, like the other girl groups that were Motown.

The last time I was in St. Louis I think was when I was hitchhiking through with a buddy. We got picked up by two drunks driving a taxi- they had a couple of cases of beer in the back seat and we climbed in over those. They took us on a hundred mile an hour thrill ride across the bridge to the Illinois side. I woulda been more scared but we really didn't have time! Those fuckers were nuts! I've always wondered if they had stolen that cab- the guy driving sure drove it like he stole it!

Keats and The Sex Pistols DOES sound like a good name for a band.
This is no mere trick, though. My brain really does remember it this way. It took years of preparation to do it- not for the weak or squeamish.

Don't mashups have to be in the same medium? I tried mashing up the sound of eggs snapping in fresh butter, Frank Zappa's "Camarillo Brillo," and the visual of the dancing fountains at the Bellagio and got fuck-all in the way of a unified result.

Stop in, read, and offer comments at my "swinging as seen in the media" blog, "Confessions of a Lifestyle Man" humorlife, which is also the home of the monthly virtual symposium. New post: The Virtual Symposium Returns Lets Pick A Topic

3 days after you posted this and I'm just now seeing it? I think my "Da Do Run Run" filter is set too high!
My notifications are working every bit as well as yours- which is to say, not much. I don't think I've seen the site function so poorly before. It might as well be down altogether. And, some days lately, it has been down.

Who knew there were rules for mashups? Anyway, I'm from the midwest. The only way this is unified is in my imagination. These are both in the file for "Good Shit" in my head and they ended up next to each other on account of two measly syllables.
