Not to be confused with "Passion"
Not to be confused with "Passion" ob·ses·sion noun \äb-ˈse-shən, əb-\ : a state in which someone thinks about someone or something constantly or frequently especially in a way that is not normal "Especially in a way that is not normal" Okay... nor·mal adjective \ˈnȯr-məl\ : usual or ordinary Hmmm! I wonder where those lines are drawn, and by whom. Volunteers? I've been perusing a tome called "Leonardo da Vinci and a Memory of His Childhood". If you are hip to Lenny and his gigantic contributions to art and science, you might think the title interesting, no? He was a universal genius. Get this: written by none other than Dr. Sigmund Freud, copyright 1910. Love or hate Freud, you gotta be intrigued by the combination of these two gargantuan minds involved in this book. Ummm... if you are not, there are many other blogs that you may want to be perusing with tits and ass, fantasies and jokes. First, however, gotta clear the air here: "perusing" is a silly word. I've used it twice in this post already, and y'all might think twice before you use it again. From Merriam-Webster: pe·ruse verb \pə-ˈrüz\ : to look at or read (something) in an informal or relaxed way : to examine or read (something) in a very careful way -- (emphasises -- ( emphasi? no,no - "emphases" ) mine. One word for one or the other behavior. (boininininggggg) Truly weird. OK, I'll put down my dictionary now. Just know that I have approached this book in the first definition's manner, so far. It is a pre-owned "textbook" from a university bookstore - complete with at least one student's notes in the margins, highlight/underlines and dog-ear-marked pages. Topic then: I am obsessed, currently, by a flesh-and-blood human that is not a part of my past or my present (which Freud would be in favor of and not stare at me down his nose). I really know nothing about her except for what she chooses to expose in words and pictures on this very site. She is stunning to observe and fascinating to read from. How to capture her attention long enough to have her observe me? No idea. Suggestions welcome. I believe I have written before that I am a realist and not an idealist. There is likely no way possible for me to stand-out among this crowded space in such a way that would turn her head. Catch her glance. Allowing me to say one really good line. Not a pick-up line that men use in a bar but a genuine piece of dialog, like from the movies. Scripted to unveil an outcome that is predestined -- required even -- to allow the scene to move forward. A catalyst of sorts. A real "beginning". I have other obsessions that have sustained through my existence. I'll gladly share them in future posts in-and-around the subject of obsession. What do you folks obsess about? Do you feel your preoccupation(s) is/are "especially in a way that is not normal"? You show me yours and I'll show you mine. In the meantime, Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man: |

Well, DON'T send her a dick pic! I obsess about stuff. My wife very generously calls it focus. When I start work on something, I tend to get focused/obsessed about it until resolution or boredom sets in, whichever comes first. I'm an asshole about it, too. Hate being distracted. I think multi-tasking is bullshit. Once again, normality is undefined and overrated. DaVinci was not normal. Now that I think about it, I am the worst guy on the planet to give advice about pickup lines. Go ahead and send the dick pic, for all I know. And I'm having a bad insect day. I got stung on the ear by a yellowjacket and moments ago I drank a housefly that had passed out in my rum and coke. Maybe THAT'S a good pickup line- go for sympathy. I thought "peruse" was what was happening when all the women at the table went to the ladies room together. Become a member now and get a free tote bag.

You are right...DaVinci was not the norm. He was exceptional.

I think the way to stand out from the crowd here for a blogger is to be a consistent commenter. And to be funny when you can. Now even at the height of my blog the most watchers I've ever achieved was like 64 or something so I'm not among some of the upper echelon here, but I can still tell you who my regulars have been & I have a real soft spot for them. A couple have bled over to real life long distance friends. I think if we lived in the same city we'd be running around buddies. There are a few of them with whom I would have loved to share my bed. I think if you comment enough, that if chemistry is there, it will click even in the words. In fact, as a writer in real life I like to think you will click even more from the words. Just be persistent in your pursuit.
