Send Postcards and Snapshots...

... from On the Continent -- you guessed it, Charles Bukowski

My blog is feeling neglected again, so here I am to tickle its fancy a bit. I've missed you.

I have been reading more of them than posting to my own. So much interesting stuff out there to find out about people -- starting to feel like an actual voyeur. I kinda wish I had a comment for every post I read, but sometimes I am simply at a loss for words. Other times someone else has already commented what I would say. Less often, I fear (since nobody else has commented either) that anything I write could/would be taken the wrong way and cause some sort of blog dispute -- which I certainly do not want. There is enough controversy on this site, I don't need to add to it.

Yucky, rainy Monday-turning over-to-Tuesday here at the crossroads of America. The kind of day you want to pull the covers over your head and wish the world would just go away. It never does, of course.

I've had a weekend full of family visits and it has left me feeling bittersweet. My oldest niece has been visiting from Nashville where she is on fall-break from her first semester in college. Ahhh.. youth. If only I knew then what I know now, right? It's great to see her wide-eyed with excitement and hope for the future. She is literally following in my footsteps, so I have been trying to download 30 years of experience into 30 minute discussions. They grow up so fast. I'll miss her when she leaves tomorrow, but will be glad to regain the living room she has converted into her temporary bedroom.

Since she was here, my eldest brother and his wife drove down to have dinner. They brought 12 banker's boxes of books with them (they are in the process of moving to a new home and apparently paring down their massive collection of books -- I mean, like, put your local library to shame kind of collection). I'm looking forward to pouring through the boxes and see what they are getting rid of. Whatever I don't add to my own library will end up at the book resale shop down the street over the course of about a month or so. I simply cannot keep them all.

With the change in season and the upcoming holidays -- anybody else have plans to see distant relatives or friends? Any romantic rendezvous during this time of year? Lemme know.

    Quoting Shortwheels1:
Hello normal, I just pray I am not out there on the road for the holidays. I would love to be going through those boxes of books with you..
Hey Ms. Wheels. This is just the first round of books, I can save some for you if you ever steer into my neck of the woods. Stay safe!
