My take on testimonials

My take on testimonials

It's been a crazy week for me workwise and I'm thankful that I'm having my first day off in five months. I've not had much sleep and due to networking demands I've had to drink like a fish for four days. I could do with a change of blood. So it's at times like these I like to cheer myself up and write about something positive. This time it's the tributes, the kind words, the snippets of praise - testimonials.

I'm lucky enough to have a testimonial from someone that other women look up to and it's brought to my attention from time to time by the more conscientious, who actually read profiles from start to finish. I guess it's pretty unusual and is a function of the fact that not many people on here meet much and that writing a testimonial is an extremely rare thing online - a selfless act.

Admittedly I don't write testimonials very often - a lot of tributes fall flat as the two people don't know each other that well and many people simply reveal that they can't write very well. Some people think you ought to write them a testimonial just because you've seen them on cam or you met them at a social gathering and chatted to them for five minutes. As a writer this doesn't sit with my 'all the news that's fit to print' ethos. A lot of things aren't worth documenting and most meets don't deserve a fulsome tribute. (refer back to my 'keeping up appearances bullshit concept' for more detail on this).

'He said what?' Devon Lee gets news of my offbeat tribute to her

I've read more testimonials than you've had hot dinners, a few phrases/themes keep recurring on the ones written by men about women - the hyping up of oral skills - 'she sucks cock like a pro', how genuine someone is - 'she's real boys' and unwanted lectures - 'treat her with respect'. The latter is particularly pointless - if you know how to behave you don't need to be told, and if you don't care you won't heed advice like this anyway.

So it's easy to write a testimonial, but it's much less easy to capture the essence of an individual, and it's not easy to write something that stands out from what others say. I never make great claims about how good I could be in bed, or how I've fucked other women into the middle of next week - I'll click with some, not with others, it's not meant to be with everyone you fancy. So I'm not fussed if people aren't queuing up to call me a stud - it's a lottery, it's going to work sometimes, irrespective of your skills or attitude, and sometimes it isn't. I guess I am bothered about whether people think I have a few brain cells to rub together or I'm a nice guy or not, but that doesn't count for much on a site like this.

Hunter Bryce means business - don't meet people on autopilot, don't write about them on autopilot either

Anyway, just for fun, here's a totally original testimonial I've cobbled together, you can cut and paste this into your profile text safe in the knowledge no-one else will have anything remotely like it:

When I first met XXXXXX it was murder, we were fighting for two rival Christian militias in northern Syria, we weren't supposed to fraternise with the other sects so you could say it was Forbidden Love. I hadn't slept for a week due to constant ISIS shelling and my batallion's love of high volume Christian rock. This didn't stop me feeling horny for XXXXXX the first second I saw her. If any Christian woman is caught with infidel clothing such as corsets, stockings or basques they're sold into sex slavery if captured by ISIS so XXXXXX can only wear Primark underwear on a tour of duty, despite this I found her irresistible when she took her bulletproof vest off. Oral sex is a massive taboo in this part of the world, due to the sanctity of sperm and the potential to waste it down someone's throat, XXXXXX would've been slung out of her militia altogether if word had got out about our foreplay - she threw the rulebook in the bin however. She insisted on doing oral and sucked me until she got lockjaw (she apologised, saying she was out of practice), so typical of someone who's shot 18 snipers this month already - what a backbone! If I make it out of my secret location alive I'd love to meet XXXXXX again. Anyway, don't muck her about, she knows all the chokeholds in the SAS handbook.

Hey there Curious!

Well done for stumbling across this hidden gem! The website didn't publish this openly - I guess because I'm encouraging fraud in some way. I suppose the option to give testimonials to others has good intentions attached to it - i.e. you can at least tell that someone turns up and is roughly who they claim to be in the eyes of others.

You are right that it's very polarising though - you get judged by the company you keep and that will affect how people see you fundamentally. I've met people who are simply private by nature and swapping tributes never came into it. We had a great time, it wasn't documented, and neither of us care.

Some testimonials say more about the person writing them than the object of their affection - I've never been in the awkward position of not publishing one because I thought it was rubbish, but it's bound to happen one day

Thankfully my hard work is over for a while, just in time to get out of the UK during my least favourite month
