OMG I can't believe they posted that! What are the stupidest pics you've ever seen?

So I'm going to end the year going into a prolonged rant about a few things I find REALLY annoying online - there's a shock!

I've hinted at the fact I'm on a few other sites apart from this one - this hasn't made a radical difference to my dating or sex life though - I just become aware of more idiots and see just how badly people present themselves, when left to their own devices.

So here's a rundown of a few massive pictorial no-no's that anyone with half a brain would avoid doing:

Underwater pics - A while back my jaw dropped reading a profile by someone who really got on her high and made out that she was particularly intelligent, despite this her main profile pics showed her scuba diving. Unless you have really wacked out fetishes you're not going on a first date wearing flippers, wetsuit and a snorkel!

Hall of mirrors - Woooo-aaahhhhhhhhhhh! Many people use ploys to make their pics effectively pointless, hiding their real identity, the hall of mirrors pics must be the worst of the lot. So you can't work out what someone really looks like and the distorted image is much worse than reality, great if your main message to the world is 'I'm a moron, avoid me like the plague'

Pulling a face - Some people go overboard to show they have a sense of humour and are a character with the jokey face pic. This either involves scrunching up their mouth into the shape of a rhombus or sticking their tongue out. Now, don't get me wrong I LOVE animal cartoon characters that stick their tongue out all the time - Fleegle the Beagle, Scratchy the Cat (from the Simpsons) in particular. The thing is I find them adorable and I want to pat their heads , I don't want to sleep with them . . . and I don't want to sleep with humans that do that either.

The Banana Splits - Fleegle the Beagle (far right) - lovable, not erotic

Groucho Marx disguise face fuzz - While I have a high embarrassment threshold and am given to singing and dancing like a loon I'm inhibited when it comes to fancy dress. The fake moustache look works in a Beastie Boy video, but it's not sexy on women and makes alarm bells ring if you can't see a face pic without something being concealed.

Sunglasses - indoors, at night, all the time - Many women quite rightly point out to me that they don't like to see pics of guys wearing hats without also seeing the top of their head. As someone who is thinning I understand that women want to see what the whole head looks like and you're suspicious if a guy doesn't show it all. The Sunglasses pic is the same - I kinda need to know you haven't got a lazy eye, heavy lids, crow's feet around the eye socket. Eyes are an important part of body language and wearing shades creates a blank space right in the middle of your head - not clever.

The group of friends shot - Thankfully A F F pic rules mean this doesn't happen here but it does on other sites. People posting them clearly don't realise what a minefield they're stepping into. To my mind, you look really weak if you're not capable of posting a pic of you on your own - I guessed you had friends anyway! Two things about companions will put me right off - some people are foolish enough to post pics where their friend is way hotter than themself - I imagine that can only lead to lots of annoying mail about the other girl - and some people post pics of them and a fat, dumpy friend, I hate to say it but you think 'sheesh, will I have to hang out with her loads too to keep my girl sweet?'

Relatives of any kind in the shot - Elsewhere online people post pics of them and their parents, them and their - on dating websites. What do they hope to achieve? I don't want to say too much here but if you post pics of under 16 I imagine you haven't asked for their prior consent and it makes you look unbelievably thoughtless and irresponsible.

I wonder what other weird, pointless and downright stupid pics are floating around on numbskull profiles out there?

Ahhhhhh isn't it lovely when men are so close they just have to be photographed together - so sweet!

On certain other sites there are no rules against posting pics that include other people - many port pictures from F A C E B O O K on autopilot. Often I see women have profile pics standing next to a random guy - you have no idea if it's an ex-boyfriend, brother, good friend, ex-husband . . . current boyfriend?

What goes through these people's heads - what possible advantage is there in posting a pic not just of yourself but including others too when you're single?

Ginger maybe you should've said 'Who's your friend? Forget you, I wouldn't mind a bit of him' - I'm sure that pic wouldn't have stayed up for long after that
