Halloween Party

Okay, now that Halloween is over and done with and I (Dennis) am finally feeling better (after dealing with a case strep throat sooner after getting over a case of bronchitis), it is time to blog about our Halloween house party.

Initially, we were trying to work out an arrangement with the Clarion Inn in Pocatello to have our Halloween party there, but we were unable to work it out in time to give people a chance to plan for it, so we decided to have a house party instead. However, we decided to announce this party a bit differently than we have in the past. Previously, we have always announced our parties by private invitation, but this time we decided to announce the party in our group pages (East Idaho Group and Idaho Swingers R Us.) so that more people, especially some that we wouldn’t normally invite because we just didn’t know them or know they would be interested in coming, would have access to the party. We figured that we would get more interest in this party than others we have had because it was a Halloween party and because more people would be aware of the party in the first place. Well, we did indeed end up getting a lot more attention than we had in the past and it was a lot more than we could have anticipated. It was so much that we actually had to start turning people away because we had reached a point where we didn’t feel comfortable having some many people in the house such that we and all of our guests could feel safe and we could still enjoy ourselves.

With all of the invitations we sent out and the RSVPs that we had received, we were looking at having just over 60 people in the house. As big of a house as it is, we had to set a limit on the amount of people we felt we could handle in our house. For those of you who have been following our adventures, it will come as no surprise to learn that Nancy was very nervous about the party and all the people that we were expecting to be there, but she managed the preparations like a champion and she hosted to party with me like a pro.

For those of you who have hosted house parties before, you will know that it is very rare to have everyone who actually sent an RSVP to actually show up (certainly not out of disrespect or anything other than just life being what it is). So we actually had 46 people show up to the party, which was still a really good turnout and about 50% more than we have had before. Compared to where she was just a year ago (spending most of the last Halloween house party hiding up in our bedroom), she has come such a long way and I am so proud of her.

Anyway, as you can tell from the pictures posted here, we had some really great people with some really great costumes show up to our party. We are very, very happy to report that overall we have received nothing, but positive feedback that everyone had a great time, which is the most important thing to us. The only downside to the evening was that we did not have the opportunity to play that night, for a couple reasons. First, as usual, no one approached us and asked us to play with them and we really were busy enough tending to so many guests that we would probably not have felt good about stepping away from the party for that long. On top of that, our sexual appetites were still quite sated from the play we had the night before with a couple from WY that came to stay with us for the weekend.

With the success of this party, we really want to move the party from our house to a more public place where we can host a larger party so we don’t have to turn people away. We have a whole year to plan it out, so hopefully we can figure something out that will be just as much fun.
