Happy Tuesday

Hi Folks, welcome aboard. The plane is about to depart. Be sure to fasten your seat belts, it maybe a rough flight.
I don't know why but I am reminded of a flight I took once between London and NY. I was in the Air Force stationed in England and was flying home to surprise everyone for Christmas. An interesting trip. No I didn't join the Mile High club, that was another time and another story. First of all because of the weather in England we had a 4 hour delay due to snow. Then I got on board and sat down and my seat mate was a nice little guy about 8 or 9 who was traveling with his parents seated in front of us. Things were fine until we were about an hour in the air and this young man tells me how airsick he gets. Well OK, that happens sometimes. But no this was airsick. Like during most of the flight his head was in the airsick bag. This was back in the 70's when you actually got a meal on flights, needless to say I couldn't eat anything with the, what seemed like, constant barfing in the seat next to me. Sleep? I can usually sleep anywhere or anytime, but with the events as they were I couldn't. After 8 hours and I don't know how many barf bags, I finally got to JFK. Clearing Customs was a breeze, I had short hair and not considered a threat and smuggler like those long haired dope smokers back then. I made it to KC a few hours later. Home at last and still no one had a clue I was coming. I figured I would splurge and take a taxi home. $20 in those days from one state to the next but I thought it was worth it just for the surprise factor. I arrived at my old home, in my old neighborhood, where I grew up. I knocked o the door expecting my Mother's astonished face. But what I got was my cousin. Not that there was anything wrong with that. Boy was she surprised. Come to find out my Mom was looking at moving and never got around to letting me know when. She rented the old house out to my cousin and her husband. So after a beer and a little short haired dope smoking and a good laugh my cousin took me out to my Mom's new house. So then I got the surprised look on her face I was looking for. I had a great Christmas at home before heading back to England. But I will always remember that trip for two things, airsick boy and realizing the old joke about your parents moving and not telling you happened to me. After that when my Mom thought about moving she let me know where and when right away.
I realize this is not a usual Blog story but I got it my head to tell it for some reason.
Anything unusual ever happen to you like this? Care to share?
Have a great Tuesday Folks.
My name is Dean and I am a Blogoholic.

Mm mm ... I've gotten seated next to li'l ol' ladies a lot. I didn't mind, though. I lost all of my grandparents quite early on so I. Just loved listening to the ol' ladies' stories ... Be it about their grandkids, knotting and sometimes even relationship problems. I just gobbled it all up. I actually still keep in touch with one of them. You made me smile .. Thanks, Dean
