Trump, Tillerson, Putin and Exxon...

So now it is becoming clear why.... President-elect Donald Trump will nominate ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson for the position of secretary of state.

Putin has lots of oil and coal reserves to exploit.

Putin and Russia stand to gain immensely from oil and energy development with ExxonMobil.

from nytimes.com/2016/12/09/us/politics/rex-tillerson-secretary-of-state-exxon-donald-trump.html?_r=0

Western sanctions against Russia prohibiting the nation from certain energy development activities have slowed Exxon Mobil’s investments, particularly a joint venture with Rosneft that was supposed to start drilling for oil in the Kara Sea in 2014. Mr. Tillerson has spoken out against sanctions, in part because Exxon Mobil is unable to collect revenues from an investment in an oil and gas consortium it belongs to that operates off Sakhalin Island.

end quote.

Putin has in the past been very un-supportive of global warming and openly denied it though recently he has spoken out in support of global warming efforts. I wonder if he is sincere?

Rex Tillerson has been a life long employee of ExxonMobil and is currently the companies CEO.

ExxonMobil is one of the largest most profitable corporations in the world and that is even after the drop in oil prices that have hit the oil companies hard.

Rex Tillerson and Putin have been on very friendly terms for a long while. Rex Tillerson was working in Russia for Exxonmobil and was involved in the Russian deal for the exploration of oil reserves in the Arctic, you know the one that is on hold due to sanctions against Russia for it's land/country grab activities.

Putin awarded the ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson the Order of Friendship, one of the highest honors Russia grants to foreign citizens.

Has Trump been a friend of Rex Tillerson for a long while or at all?

Does Trumps talk during the campaign about being on good friendly terms with Russia make more sense now?

Maybe that explains why Trump initially claimed he knew Putin and had talked to him then turned around and said he doesn't know him personally but thinks he is a great guy etc. etc...

No wonder Trump didn't care about the pay check as president. Hell there's billions to be made from kick backs and payoffs and or investments. Not that the president elect would ever do anything like that...

Rex Tillerson has said that we as humans will adapt to global warming because that's what we do. Should I remind you that ExxonMobil was studying global warming or carbon dioxide build-up in the atmosphere and its effects way back in the sixties and seventies. They came to the conclusion back then that global warming was real and deliberately concealed those findings even denying them right up to recent times and worked to prevent any legislation to act on global warming. Tillerson has recently moved the company to admit that global warming is real and is even identifying solutions, but they are still an oil company with their profit mainly from fossil fuels and their business plan reflects that. Of course ExxonMobil also has invested in clean energy... do you think they saw the future?

Tillerson as the secretary of state will be running around the world making sure that the other countries are working together with the aims of the United States government which in this case means emperor Trump.... or will it be Putin... or maybe ExxonMobil, is there even a difference.

not that this is a surprise or even alarming in the larger sense of the word. this was expected as soon as Trump was elected.

the question is, does America let it happen? me fear is that we will.

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

You can always pray that the electors will vote for someone else. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see some serious unrest in the population if he gets sworn in.

Tillerson has very limited experience in dealing with foreign affairs. Generally business people make for terrible politicians. Government isn't a business.
I can't see too many American-brokered peace deals being launched under the Trump Presidency. It's a little worrying!

It's more than a little worrying! The people he's putting in offices are people who have said the agencies they are going to be in charge of shouldn't exist or similar such things. Seems he is a true Republican after all and is intending to reduce government and let business run things. Imagine that...

Big Oil Guy as Secretary of State. Next the push will be on to invade the Saudis.

Could be after all they do have a rather suppressive government and kingdoms are kind of undemocratic. I'm sure Trump and Tillerson will engage the assistance of Putin seeing as how he is already there in Syria.

    Quoting freenez14u2:
God you guys! Read a book if you can't remember. First off I was born in Southern California and lived here all my life. First off when I was a kid they said how the "Big Freeze" is coming back. Now we're going to cook!?

Also these dumb fucks insist on calling oil fossil fuel, like there was that many fucking dinosaurs! Dip shits! Maybe vegetation, forest and a like but under time and pressure one of these idiots would melt down to about a cup of goop! So dinosaurs must of been stacked pretty damn high.

Also if you bothered you could find and read that about 700 years ago they grew grapes in England. The same around 1400 and 2100 years ago also, can anyone say cycles? Or were the fucking Romans at fault of that too?

I wish people know all the things that start with oil, most things around you right now. Let alone the things oil is needed to produce which I'd guess almost everything unless you have you own garden. With bugs see that most pest control are oil based.

The smog here in Southern California was much worse in the 60's and 70's and the country in general was far dirtier, parks and such.

We all want a clean earth but it's cost much be weighed. What are you greenies going to do with all those 500 pound batteries in your little Toyota pieces of shit in my way on the highway?

And our Savior Obama which almost on day one closed down the Yucca Mountain project just as it wrapped up. So now here in So. Cal. We have a shut down Nuclear power plant right on the beach with metal drums stacked ten high with dirty waste in them. Nuclear waste + steel drums + salt water = ? Not fucking good!

But better it spill next to people and in the ocean I guess. Must be or they'd do something different right? But fuck it, it's a good 2,000 miles away from DC so...

Not that I'm pro oil, not at all. Those fucks sell us oil based on the price set on the other side of the world. It's about 52.00 today and they warn of 70.00 or so. But our oil from our lands runs at the cost of just short to just over 30.00. And the newer frack runs near 50.00 So they owe us all a big kiss for fucking us but how's that different then you fucks that line up to pay 700.00 for a phone that costs less then 200.00 ?

We all get fucked one way or the other but I like to look in their eyes and know their names. Take you blinders off and see who's slamming you deep, it might not be who you think it is.
Fossils include plant life. Another definition for fossil is: a person whose views are outmoded. and yet another is: something (as a theory) that has become rigidly fixed.

When you said "but under time and pressure one of these idiots would melt down to about a cup of goop!" were you referring to the "dumb fucks" who insist on calling oil fossil fuel or one of the dinosaurs?

To help conserve water Grape vines usually shut down if temperatures exceed 95ºF. High temperatures interfere with ripening and can adversely affect quality. The ideal temperature is below 60ºF at night and 70sºF during the day. This is why in some warmer climates it is preferred to use a late ripening variety. They ripen later in the fall in reasonably cooler temperatures.

Grapevines are fairly adaptable plants, growing in a wide variety of soil types, from light sand to packed clay, and flourishing around the globe in the temperate bands between 20° and 50° Latitude, north or south of the Equator. They are successfully grown in Europe, the Balkans, Asia, Mediterranean and South Africa, South Australia and New Zealand, most of North America and a good portion of South America.

England is approximately 50 to 58 degrees latitude and as it is an island it has a warmer climate from the ocean warming effect.

Who brought the Romans into this other than you?

Yes oil is used for many products but it is the burning of oil that causes the carbon dioxide to build up in the atmosphere.

The reason the air is so much cleaner now in Southern California is because California has the highest emissions standards in the country. That means greener cars! Sounds like you might have some road rage issues if you are upset about those "Toyota pieces of shit in your way on the highway."

enlighten yourself, see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yucca_Mountain_nuclear_waste_repository

Senator Harry Reid and the citizens of Nevada are the reason the site hasn't opened.

"Take you blinders off and see who's slamming you deep, it might not be who you think it is." You would do well to take your own advice.

Tillerson and I might agree on one thing: We are going to cook this planet.

Yes, we should be looking for ways to adapt. .. Replacing fossil fuels will require a global strategy. . And in the meantime, things will get worse before they get better.

Well you can stick your head in the sand and hope for the best like some of these Trump supporters seem to be doing. Their reasoning seems to be how much damage can he do in four-eight years.

Yeah I don't think he really understands the kind of adaptation it could require. His imagination seems to stop at higher sea levels which means he can get to more Arctic sites because of the ice melt.

From the very beginning the business of America has been business. Many people are OK with that- I'm not one of them. We pay lip service to ideals that aren't about business. They aren't about life as simply working and getting for ourselves. And that dissent is also as old as America- older even.

What Trump has done is the same old conservative con game. Sell the people the hatred they so crave- anti immigrant, anti gay, anti feminist, and on and on. And while the people are distracted by savoring their fear and anger, pick their pockets by selling out our country to huge businesses. Trump simply peeled away the curtain and said right out what Republicans have been preaching for decades. Trump is worshipped not in spite of his fascism and bigotry, but because of it. His voters don'r care that he'll sell them down the river- he's given them permission to hate. Economics be damned- it's now officially OK to be a white supremacist. Yeehaw!

As though that isn't bad enough you have the ones that voted for Trump to send a message to Washington that they are tired of the status quo but they didn't consider what they were actually doing by electing Trump.

See this is what hate do to your lives, you can't control hate, Now some people are questioning what the fuck is going on, Sometimes humans need a wake up call, I feel like Trump is going to be this country wake up call, We are going to need each other, the working class, middle class, poor, working poor and all the races, we are going to need each other to make it through the next four years of craziness,

conflict of interest definition:
"a situation in which a person is in a position to derive personal benefit from actions or decisions made in their official capacity."
