The mounting frustration...

The good part of these last few weeks of activity is that the busy time frame part is beginning to slow down a bit. I have attended several different job fairs, networking events, a conference (on business process and records management) and an appreciation party over the last two and a half weeks. I certainly hope that all my efforts in attending these events generates some employment chances. I have been in transition for what seems like forever, and going through the process of attending all these events and also spending the necessary time online applying to positions makes me feel like Jack Torrance in The Shining (all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy...). I have met some really swell people, particularly at the appreciation party I attended, so I am optimistic, especially one nice Japanese lady, roughly my age, who was an absolute joy to talk to...although after the amount of sake she had drunk I have no idea how much of our conversation she remembered the following day. I will keep my fingers crossed that I will hear from her at some point. I did provide her with my info (a business card and contact info on her cell phone), but I was unable to get hers. I have heard on news programs that the unemployment rate has dropped, so I hope that means things are improving... To a certain extent. Most weeks start fine and optimistic, but boarders on depression by the time I reach the end of the week, especially if I have not received any contact from companies wanting to set up an interview. Sometimes I think I should just announce my candidacy for President... I only need to be 35 years old and a native born citizen, both of which I satisfy... Or maybe run for Congress. I certainly couldn't do worse than the current crop of clowns on Capital Hill. Besides, I am sick of these clowns, most of which are worth 6 or 7 figures and some of which have an IQ that barely pushes double-digits, thinking they know what is best for the middle class or people like me.
