Crazy little thing called love....a personal observation.

I've decided to take a new approach to blogging by posting things I've written and presented at various events (open mics etc). I look forward to reading your comments.

Crazy little thing called love
I’d like to thank google chrome and Tom Robbins for the information, observations, motivation and more. I would also like to thank the late George Carlin the cadence of my piece…. You see….

John Coltrane gave us “a love supreme” & the Beatles gave us “love is all you need”
There are love ballads and love birds
There’s love in C minor and I love me some coconut crème pie
There’s love detectors and love divine
Facebook has love emojis and many have unrealistic expectations of love
An invitation to a love fest might use a love font
I was part of the love generation but I’m certainly no love guru
I’ve got love handles and we all know love sure ain’t no Hallmark movie
There’s images of love and we all envision our ideal love
You can have a love jones if you’re a love junky
Most folks love kissing and you can tie a lover’s knot
Shakespeare wrote Love’s Labour Lost and some write love letters
There are love matches and love muffins
There’s love nicknames but no love ninjas
Many have written odes to love and for some love is an obsession.
There are love potions and love poems
There’s love quotes but no love quotas
Most of us love romance and all of us risk rejection

Love can inspire a tattoo and we all know love takes time
There’s unconditional love and unrequited love
There’s love verses and vows, love has a vocabulary but love probably isn’t a verb
Samuel Coleridge loved Xanadu and I love xenophiles
You can love your house and you darn sure ought to love yourself
There’s love in Zimbabwe and I’m pretty sure you don’t profess your
love with a Cubic Zirconium. …..

You see, I’ve talked with old folks, young folks, white folks, black folks, Asian folks, Spanish speaking folks, straight folks, gay folks, Hindu folks, evangelical folk, Muslims folks, Sikhs folks, Unitarian folks and atheists. I’ve talked with widows, widowers, brides and former nuns. I’ve talked with drag queens, transsexuals, a-sexuals and poly-amorists. I talked with those swearing off love and those longing for love.

I’ve learned no matter how you see others as different we share common expectation, desires, fears, longings, concerns and commitment to this “crazy little thing called love”.

I’m relatively certain we all know a marriage or relationship isn’t always going to be perfect. In closing I‘ll paraphrase Paul Sweeney who said “The anniversary of any relationship is the celebration of love, trust, partnership, tolerance and tenacity. Just remember the order varies at any given time.”
