Awkward Return A Poem

Do you want to come back?
Back into my mind
Like the wind
Picking back up
After it had lulled
For a time?

Do you want me to think
Positive things
From way back when
When we first met?
That initial phase
Of getting to know
Each other
And getting a glimpse
Of each other's lives
And how we mesh.

But you went away
With nary a backward glance
You came back twice
Only to again be silent
And become absent.

Seriously?
Should I be mad?
At your penchant
For disappearing?
Should I think you
A magician
And this just a trick?
But damn it
I was not up
For such a show.
That is not my idea
Of entertainment.

I like continuity!
I like people who
Stay in the picture.
Who come through
When they make a promise
Not people who
Ride off into the sunset
Without me looking.

I will listen
To your story
But know that
I have come a long way.
I am not going to be
As amenable
As I was the first
Or even second time.
I will be polite
And give you a little update
We will leave things
In that awkward state.
Of which you probably
Know well
And are a current resident.

 I am a pretty easy going person but I really really dislike being taken for granted or treated like a doormat.
