The L Word A Poem

The L Word Written in 2015

When should I mention the L word?
Should I tuck it away like a handkerchief?
It being readily available
If a moment becomes right?

You know I say like a lot
It is said about so many things you do
And so many things you say.
I like your use of it as well
As you voice about me the same.

You like the color of my hair.
You like the color of my eyes.
You like I not stick thin
You like when I affectionate.

I like the size and strength of your hands
I like how they take mine in them
I like the deepness of your voice.
Especially when it says my name.

Saying the L word is slightly a superlative
To the word just mentioned
It is a delicate operation.
As saying it too early can make one seem desperate.

I have worn my heart on my<b> sleeve
</font></b>On previous occasions
Only to have it lack reciprocation.
I cringe even now of such an embarrassment.

So should I have you take the lead?
Should I wait until you make an overture?
Yes an overture of something is the beginning!
One in which the sentiment was not fleeting.

You see how scared I of this word?
I dare not even mention it!
Could saying it too early?
Even discussing it like this
Prove to be a jinx?
I truly hope is not the case!

 I remember who I wrote this about. I saw him on and off for about 6 months. He has since married someone else. Let's just say that is okay with me because he lacked some crucial things. I will tell you if you ask me nicely... LOL
