A Lovely July Night. A Poem
A Lovely July Night. A Poem The date was made For the very next day. Dinner and to watch The fireworks display. He was early. I was a little late. I apologized And he said No worries. It gave him time To relax After a stressful drive. He ordered me An Angry Balls Which was the first time Drinking that mixture Of Angry Orchard Hard Apple Cider And Fireball which Had cinnamon.. I enjoyed the drink Along with A glass of water. Then came our appetizer Of seared shrimp with bacon With a maple flavor. He knew I loved Chinese food So he suggested We go somewhere else And eat our meal. That held a lot of appeal As I thought about My favorites Of crab Rangoon Lo Mein And sharing a Scorpion Bowl. He paid the tab And followed me To my house A slight detour As I could leave my car And go with him. Sharing the ride And more conversation. We made it to The Chinese restaurant In no time at all Okay about 7 minutes total. We seated ourselves At a table in the bar area And the bartender Came by with our menus. We knew we wanted The Scorpion Bowl So for that we placed our order As we looked closer At the menu and chose Two appetizers Of Peking raviolis And crab Rangoon And since we both Liked Lo Mein We ordered that then too. We ate our fill Finished the Scorpion Bowl He stabbed a few cherries And put them near my mouth. I opened it and He dropped them in. I think their might be Some erotic significance But I thought that applied Only to the man eating them Another tab settled We still had some Time to kill So we ventured To Dunkin Donuts For an Iced Coffee To drink when we watched The fireworks on a blanket At Derryfield Park The fire works were blasted Off the Bridge Street Bridge And we could view them With less hassle From the top of the hill Where we sat. Lots of families Adorable Being American On this lovely July night I was happy I was out And not stuck In my house. The bugs were polite And kept their distance Only a few were shooed away With little resistance. The night was still young Barely 10 p.m.. So we had the idea To go and park somewhere And talk. After a pit stop At a gas station We ended up parking At a closed restaurant. I have ro say Although he wasn't A perfect gentleman He obeyed When I said enough. When I was uncomfortable With more forwardness. He drove me back home And got out of the car It was supposed to be One kiss goodnight At least that was what Was in my mind. He ended up kissing Me several times Paying me compliments About my face and eyes And other body parts. He proclaimed himself An ass man And couldn't help Grabbing mine. This was all happening In the front of my house On the sidewalk Any of my neighbors Could be witnessing I was getting anxious About that possibility So I ended the embrace Thanked him For a lovely night And ascended one stair At which moment He once again Touched my derriere. I laughed it off And said goodnight again Asking him to text me When he was home safe. He wanted to see me again The next day But I had already scheduled With someone else A first date. So he would have to wait Until Friday Which we had made Tentative plans To go to Pawtuckaway lake. Perhaps that will lead To a lovely July day. Independently Romantic Sounds Better Than Lonely |

You captured the moments of pleasure. You had your fill but he didn't have his. You were anxious as to what may occur. You made him wait to savour all of this.
