Companion In A Nighttime Star Light Show A Poem

A man was listing some
Of the things he likes to do
Things he grew up with
Living on a dairy farm
Doing farming stuff
At the end he mentioned
Laying on his back
All night long and
Watching the stars.

That pulled at my heart strings.
It brought to mind
The song by Snow Patrol
Chasing Cars.
Which always made
Me feel bittersweet.
The words so poignant
And of course the song
Will be associated with loss
As Grey's Anatomy
Made it famous.

This new guy
However things turn out
Gave me something
To think about.
How I would love this
Simple romantic act
To be a part of my life
Sometime
In the future.
Not sure with whom
But someone.

My mind can see some
Ex lovers who could fit the bill.
But they had their chance
To be romantic and
At that task they failed.

So now I have in mind
Some new friends
Who I could see
In that role
My companion
In a nighttime
Star light show.

Of course nature may
Give us prompts for
More than just viewing stars
We might hold hands
Caress each other.
Turn toward one another
Inch closer and closer
To have our faces
Viewing the landscape there
Our eyes twinkling
Like the stars above
What can we see
Shining through
From our very souls?

Is it just a physical urge
A need to have sex?
How ordinary
When this moment
Calls for reverence!
Not something cheap
And tawdry!
I know if I choose
The right partner
He would make this moment
Perfect in so many ways.

Simple words
Romantic in their scope.
Telling me my eyes shine
Just like the stars.
Telling me he could look
At them til the end of time.
Telling me that my soul
Has so many facets
He could never know
Them all.

Affection that evoked
Such a tenderness
That my eyes swelled
With emotion.
To which he added
To that list of facets.

Kisses would they ever
Be more sought
Or precise in their giving?
Tender oh so tender
Then some more urgent.
Hands given
The green light to roam.
But they start with
A single finger that
Walks the contours first.
Shivers brought forth.
But heat is beginning
To also smolder.
Cold and hot vie
Not for supremacy.
Guess which one
Wins this rivalry?

Would we dare
To be less clothed
Out in the open?
We are after all
Law abiding citizens.
Ha! We only live once.
We say it out loud
Almost in unison.
So attuned we
Are with each other's thoughts.

I guess I could continue
But I have only got this far
In my mind.
I need someone to take
The next step.
Is there anyone who
Understands that concept?
Taking up where one person
Has left off.
Continue with the flow
With the same intent
Of making it perfect
Or as perfect as can be.
Reverential
Timeless
Blocking out the world
For a moment.

Thank you my friend for reading and commenting. It was long so I appreciate that. Yes, a woman who wants love and is a loving person...being in love..it is hard to say. It is so hard to have that thought and not have it reciprocated. Hope you have a wonderful weekend Scoupe.
