Open Petition to Abolish both, Fake Troll Profiles & the Active Bloggers List
Open Petition to Abolish both, Fake Troll Profiles & the Active Bloggers List As a collective group, we have the power to demand change within a site where many '', let's exercise that power. This petition will be submitted to A*F*F administers to abolish both, the active bloggers list and fake troll profiles. For many years the on-line community has witnessed numerous blog wars, bullying, attacking, shaming, manipulations, attacks and infighting over the most active bloggers list. In an effort to eliminate the hostile competitive environment created from the active bloggers list, it should be abolished in it's present function and replaced with a different forum. The discussed ideas are as below: 1) Abolish the active bloggers list all together and only have trending blog posts by all existing bloggers with no separation between gender. 2) Have trending blog posts by all existing bloggers and all newly created blogs with no separation between gender. 3) Rotate the trending blog posts by all existing bloggers and newly created blogs with no separation between gender. The point is to give exposure to all blogs and have easier access to the existing bloggers, regardless of popularity and/or gender. Fake troll profiles are not new within A*F*F and I believe we are dealing with far more fake troll profiles in the on-line community which are created for nefarious purposes. The sole purpose of fake troll profiles is to be deceptive, manipulative, abusive and divisive in nature. They put into question the 'realness' of a on-line site and are wide reaching throughout the site, from people who choose to use the on-line meeting or on-line community side of the site. This abuse of the system has created a hostile environment which does not allow all to freely enjoy the site the way we are entitled to as site members. Many members have left the on-line community area, or closed their accounts, and more leave the site if the problem is not yet addressed and resolved. This is a petition asking site administrators to abolish both, the active bloggers list and fake troll profiles. If you agree or disagree with any of the statements within this petition or have suggestions / ideas, please leave a comment below. This is a chance for all site members to voice their opinions, and have their concerns heard in an organized and collective manner. I will present this petition and open a dialog with the site administrators to request a priority be placed with the petition. Thank you for helping to make this a better experience for all members. I like reading some of the blogs and looking at the pics. I don't like the fakes and the folks that are not what they pretend to be. We all or a lot of us, use this as an outlet, even me! What I don't like is those fake profiles, or those that were born one way, but perpetrate to be a different way. As for trolls, well, I have been call one but I don't really understand why! [I]Da Focker!!

I'm glad you wrote this. I had noticed also (like just now) the "RESPOND" button won't even work. I thought the respond button was nice so that you could respond to that person directly. I had no idea that points were being handed out. It gets kind of annoying to read a persons whole post all over again just to get to the response. If they would like to fix something they should fix how a post is delineated from another post. The dividing line is very confusing. Especially if the person has a signature line like I do. I too can't see the problem with noting who is most active. I took those as suggestions for something to read. I mostly decide what I read based on your title so... Lastly how do you know someone is a troll? If they are annoying and you don't want to talk to them you can ban them from your conversation. or group. If they make plans to meet you and don't show up you can tell everybody. Don't see trolls as a problem, as least not yet. Do you have any Primal Urges ... I don't believe that the "active blogger list" itself creates hostility - it is the activities of some people on that list that do so. I believe a known flaw in the way the active bloggers list is set up, is that it counts "unique comments". The blogger who uses the "quote" feature, gets a count for 2 unique comments, 1 from the blogreader, and 1 when they quote. (total of 2). The blogger who uses the "respond" feature to respond to a comment gets counted only 1. A clear inequity - as they are not being counted in the same manner - it's as if 1 is being penalized - although both methods end up with a result - a comment and a response to it. . The same thing as in the old adage "apples vs oranges". Would changing this make things different - perhaps allowing only 1 method - it would certainly "level the playing field". We all know that the only behaviour we can change is our own. And, those who use childish, rude, spiteful language are NOT going to change, because we want them to. You don't have to provide proof of adult behaviour to join this site - only proof of age. It gets kind of annoying to read a persons whole post all over again just to get to the response. If they would like to fix something they should fix how a post is delineated from another post. The dividing line is very confusing. Especially if the person has a signature line like I do. I agree with demonicsexkitten, insofar as my still limited exposure to blogs is concerned. I haven't yet been here long enough to be well informed on the question of the blogs. I do agree with the principle of fake/troll accounts being eliminated (though how the admin. might go about discerning real from fake is beyond me). Do you have any Primal Urges ... At the risk of echoing those who posted before me ... I agree wholeheartedly with the desire to police the fake and 'professional' profile. I also concur that doing so would prove to be rather difficult. I'd also add that such a campaign could backfire and drive legitimate members away ... ... I've been on FriendFinder-x to remember when more active Standard Members were allowed to contact a certain number of profiles (10 ... perhaps 20 if I recall correctly) everyday if you were active on the site. I don't recall the profile trolls being as bad back then as folks quickly separated the genuine members from the trolls, professional webcams, and the working girls. However, I disagree with a wholesale reform of the Blogosphere here. One of the quickest ways to determine if a profile is real is to see if the have a Blog. I know there are issues with bullying and the aforementioned hostilities - but, I firmly believe this is due to the anonymous nature of the Internet in general ... not something specific to the Bloggers on FriendFinder-x. Regarding the fake or troll profiles .....this has always been , and will always be so sorry to say that ......Back a few years ago like four or five there was a group room where to be a member you had to verify your profile with either the room owner or one of his moderators . Silly trolls and fakes still tried to join that room because it was becoming a very popular group room . If you were a fake he made no apologies , he gave warning he would out you as such . His room was closed by the site as it was seen as a derogatory room . I only mentioned that room because it is a classic example of how money talks around any business and that is what this site is ....a business . Now as far as the active bloggers listing , and the blog wars , that too has always been an issue . My first time around as a blogger here nine years ago there was still the in fighting going on but it was on a lower key . Back then those who were on the active listing on a regular basis however were much more supportive to newer bloggers . I remember two very popular bloggers back then always came to my blog , and left encouraging words . Spunky used to email me with challenges to do on my blogs , and he would encourage me to venture out beyond my friends blogs and explore new ones . His whole take on the blogging community was to be a supportive creative area where open and honest discussions could flourish . Busty Betty Boop she was always so sweet , would encourage me to take part in different games going on . Now I look at the active bloggers list and don't see those encouraging people , I see more bloggers who post pics more than actual thoughts , and have seen three of the more active bloggers listed that are known to lift other's thoughts and ideas using them as their own . You can get rid of the active bloggers listings but that won't end the blog wars , the bullying , or the lifting of works . I personally believe that blogs may work better if they were more categorized .......Like have an area for blogs that are Pics mainly .....Those that are mainly advice blogs .......those that are more political ......those that are more Games ......those that are Erotica ....etc ....etc ...etc But those are just my thoughts ......my wish is to once again have that feeling of being part of a supportive community , it was why I came back . The idea here is good, but probably not realistic. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Agreed, double edged. I'm here to meet and have met women who had posted misleading pics. While it was disappointing I wouldn't allow that to make me totally quit. A guy's gotta do . . . When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I agree about the fake/troll portion. But... I just clicked on "Active Blogs" link and... woah!! All the blogs I enjoy reading are right there. I always have mine sitting on "Recent" and usually miss everyone. I never actually click my "followed blogs" link because I'm so many 1000's of post readings behind lol. It doesn't matter to me on "active blogs" because I don't use it. Though it suddenly appears useful.

I agree about the fake/troll thing. But those are income sources for the business. If they end up making less money how do you think it would effect the quality of the site? When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
