Torch 2 Review

Directed by Paul Thomas. Released by Vivid in 1991.

Heather Hunter returns, apparently having given up her singing career, and applies to be a weather girl at a local TV station. But when sports anchor Lefty Jones (played by Tom Byron) gets fired for having sex with a cheerleader (played by Trixie Tyler) ob camera, Heather is immediately hired as the new sports anchor. However, after being caught having sex with a player (played by Jon Dough) in the locker room shower by the coach (played by Tony Tedeschi), Heather is relegated to cover women's sports only. As ratings at the station dwindle, anchorwoman Dawn (played by Amanda Stone) has sex with the coach to convince him to allow Heather back in the men's locker room. The story is flimsy, lacks realism, and has nothing to do with the events of Torch 1. Story Grade: D.

This movie was shot on video. Medium Grade: B.

The locker room, shower, and newsroom sets were all obviously phony. Set Design Grade: D.

Trixie Tyler did not seem to keen on giving a blow job to Tom Byron. Otherwise, the sexual performances were energetic and performers seemed enthusiastic. Condoms were not used in this production. (Condom use has no bearing on the grade.) Sexual Performances Grade: B+.

Much of the acting came off as inauthentic, lacking realism. Some of the line deliveries were either corny or emotionless. Acting Grade: C-.

The red jacket that Amanda Stone wore to the locker room made her look like a marching band leader. Otherwise, costumes and make-up seemed appropriate. Wardrobe/Make-up Grade: B.

At times, more light could have been used in some scenes. Lighting seemed fairly consistent throughout. Lighting Grade: B.

The sound quality was good and consistent throughout. Sound Grade: A-.

A camera appeared in one of the shots. Jon Dough appeared in this movie as well as the first Torch, but played a completely different character. No mention of the characters or events from the first movie were mentioned in this sequel. Directing Grade: C-.

The shower that was used didn't even resemble the kind of shower that would appear in a locker room. Given that the other two sets also looked phony, there was an extremely flimsy story, and the movie made no mention of the one preceding it, it is clear that not much effort went into this installment. Artistic Merit Grade: D.

OVERALL GRADE: C.
