Loads of songs have different meanings. One used to stick out in mum's mind which was when we were wallpapering one of the rooms and we'd always associate that song with that time.

Other songs bring back memories of driving up and down the field with the tractor radio on, sun blazing down, breeze going through the cab.

And some songs remind me of various people.

I can remember a song by The Script called "I'm Yours". My g/f at the time said it was 'our song'.

Sorry to hear about his passing, no matter how long or how many years pass, it is a part of our pasts. I am going to play Johnny Rodriguez's Riding My Thumb to Mexico later to bring a smile back to my face and take me back to fall of 1979 and a very special night. Thank you.

I like Meat Loaf...as a food too! A friend that has passed on used that phrase "I see paradise by the dash board light" a lot, the other favorite saying of his "I got my plastic Jesus" Billy Idol tune lyric.
I have seen and had paradise by the street light shine while parked.
An ex who is still a friend use to sing that "Two out of three ain't bad" song,,in my mind two out of three is not quite there for love.
This song is the one that has a very special memory and I hope never to hear this song again. "You'll Accomp'ny Me" by Bob Seger.
I must have missed the passing of your friend in this blog but I see many commentors stating that your friend has passed...my condolences

"Only you
can make this world seem right
Only you
can make the darkness bright
Only you and you alone
can thrill me like you do
and fill my heart with love for only you
Only you
can make this change in me
For it's true
you are my destiny
When you hold my hand, I understand
the magic that you do
You're my dream come true
my one and only you, only you

Sorry to hear about your friend.

I don't really have a favorite song I guess? Liking all music, Like they use to say on Bandstand...it's got a good beat and you can dance to it I'll give it a ten.

Meat Loaf's Bat out of Hell album holds a special place for me, Takes me back to the hay day of my youth. I don't think there isn't one song on that album that didn't hit the top of the charts.

" I'd Do Anything for Love" won Meatloaf ( Michael Aday) a Grammy.
" Happy Together" by the Turtles brings back so many memories.

HI Joy.

thanks for sharing more tidbits about yourself, always taking me further...

What is one song that takes you back? you know, I don't just have one song... there are a few special ones... Jim Croce - "memories and photographs"; Joshua Radin - "paperweight"; Queen - "you take my breath away"... and others...

One you would have playing in the background on a night with either a special someone or your own first time with them? Ambrosia - "You're the only woman"; Brenda Russell - "Piano in the dark"; Bridge - "If only"; Freya Ridings - "Lost without you"; Medina - "You and I" (Deadmau5 Remix)... and others of course...

hmm...

reminded me of this...

Fleetwood Mac - "Hypnotized"

It's the same kind of story
That seems to come down from long ago
Two friends having coffee together
When something flies by their window
It might be out on that lawn
Which is wide, at least half of a playing field
Because there's no explaining what your imagination
Can make you see and feel
Seems like a dream
They got me hypnotized
Now it's not a meaningless question
To ask if they've been and gone
I remember a talk about North Carolina
And a strange, strange pond
You see the sides were like glass
In the thick of a forest without a road
And if any man's hand ever made that land
Then I think it would've showed
That's why it seems like a dream
Got me hypnotized
And I know that's right
Seems like a dream
They got me hypnotized...
