Boy that's a good question I don't have any songs that I can think of right off the bat but I do know there must be something or a few out there hahaha. I love that quote and that is a fantastic manttra the first one heard something the other day as well too but I really loved. We only die once so we should live everyday! Hugs Joy

I seen some of your wonderful pictures at the other place my friend. I think everyone's life when they pass should be celebrated and it sounds like your family is planning a great tribute of celebration for your beloved Aunts life..

Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

First off...very sorry about the loss of your aunt. I have had quite a few losses in a short time span, so i know all about the process of reconciling that.....and abt the celebratory nature of their home going service. Different people, different cultures....we all do it differently. Kudos to her and her life well lived !!

Secondly, my planned service is to have all the versions that can be found , playing in a loop , of : Its a Wonderful World. Of course Louis Armstrong does it but so does Nora Jones and several others, plus there are instrumental versions. Despite all the twists and turns of our existence, my belief is its still A Wonderful World ~~

I know your Aunt was a great Lady. She had to be to honor her so.

Nice job by the infamous Hunter S. Thompson and I entirely agree with his assessment. They last thing I want said while lying in the casket is...oh he looks like he’s sleeping. I want to hear...look at him, how did he manage to stay so long ahead of the grim reaper.

It is funny but Hoyt Axton...great songwriter. Always remembered him as the Dad in the movie the Gremlins. Hoyt has been dead for almost 20 years but my favorite song that he had sung...is it too early to drink????

Heard you had some trouble
Thought I'd try to help you
In my time I've had a little trouble too
If you let it get you
Down you know I'll bet you
It will get you down and walk around on you
Sweet misery
She loves her company
She's in a crowd when she is all alone
She doesn't care follow you everywhere
She is most happy when she makes you moan
My dog had some puppies
Would you like to have one
He will be your friend and he will lick your face
He will never cheat you
He won't try to beat you
Help you be a winner in the human race
Sweet misery
She loves her company
She's in a crowd when she is all alone
She doesn't care follow you everywhere
She is most happy when she makes you moan
Heard you're feelin' better
Glad you found some happy
In my time I've had a little happy too
If you let it get you
You know I'll bet you
It will get you up and keep you smilin' through
Sweet misery
Don't need your company
She's in a crowd when she is all alone
She doesn't care follow you everywhere
She is most happy when she makes you moan

While most of us crave *exceptionalism*, we are bound together by our mortality. I- like John Ondrasik- celebrate the banality of our life-cycle.

"100 Years"

I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

I'm 22 for a moment
And she feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15 there's never a wish better than this
When you only got a hundred years to live

I'm 33 for a moment
I'm still the man, but you see I'm a "they"
A kid on the way, babe
A family on my mind

I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose yourself
Within a morning star

15 I'm all right with you
15 there's never a wish better than this
When you only got a hundred years to live

Half time goes by
Suddenly you’re wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on

I'm 99 for a moment
And dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you’re on your way
Every day's a new day

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15 there's never a wish better than this
When you only got a hundred years to live

Hi Joy...

thanks for sharing this personal post about the passing of your aunt.

What are two songs on your own playlist when it comes to the Celebration Of Your Own Life?

1) They Might Be Giants - "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" Theme

Mis-ka, Mou-ska
Mickey Mouse!
M-I-C-K-E-Y
M-O-U-S-E (that's me!)
M-I-C-K-E-Y
M-O-U-S-E
It's the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Come inside, it's fun inside
It's the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (roll call!)
Donald (present!)
Daisy (here!)
Goofy (hyuck, here!)
Pluto (woof! woof!)
Minnie…

2) Jimmie Dodd, The Mouseketeers - "Mickey Mouse Club Alma Mater"

Now Mouseketeers
There's one thing we want you
Always to remember

Come along and sing our song
And join our family

M-I-C
K-E-Y
M-O-U-S-E

Through the years we'll all
Be friends
Wherever we may be.
M-I-C
K-E-Y
M-O-U-S-E

Mickey Mouse
Mickey Mouse
Forever let us hold our
Banner high

Now its time to say goodbye
To all our company

M-I-C
Spoken:
See you real soon
K-E-Y
Spoken:
Why? because we like you
M-O-U-S-E

Death is nothing to be feared. It is inevitable for all of us. It is not a destination, nor goal, nor journey towards. Death to me is the next step in life. While I have been of the mind that my funeral shouldn't be something somber or melancholy or sad, it should be a party, a jam session of stories and Big Hair 80s music. Celebrate who I was and put those at ease I leave behind. I am just human. I have done some bad and some good in my life. I hope that those that show up and share stories will have seen the good and put aside the bad I've done.
But EVERYONE will have to listen to Metallica and one of my favorite songs...…"Fade to Black"

The Hubby

I have thought of the song that Warren Zevon included on his last album, when he knew the end was near. It's called "Keep Me In Your Heart for a While". TO me, the song is his way of leaving a message for after he was gone.

He also recorded, "Knocking on Heaven's Door" for that album.

Sorry to hear about your loss Joy.

Before there was Green Day and Good Riddance/Time of Your Life there was We May Never Pass This Way (Again) by Seals and Crofts. I like them both.
But Amazing Grace on the bagpipes will be the one.
