Quote Of The Day: 1-20-19

"Pets are humanizing. They remind us we have an obligation and responsibility to preserve and nurture and care for all life' - James Cromwell …

Missing my doggie today …

Upon waking in the morning, knowing this was the last day she would wake up with us, I made bacon and eggs for breaky. After putting her plate on the floor, she chowed down. She looked up at me - her ears perked - it was as if she was reading my mind …

The day 15 minute ride to the vet seemed like 15 hours …

I got on the floor with her, my hubby next to me, and held her head in my lap. The vet came in and gave her the needle, then left. Tears were streaming down my cheeks. Petting her during her last moments, my hubby holding my hand, her eyes started to close …

On the ride home, all I could think bout was will she ever forgive us for doing this. Will I ever be able to forgive myself …

After all this time, I still miss her bark, the jiggle of her chain, the sound of her feet on the hardwood floors …

She was a rescue - 18 years old - abused and sad she came to us. And, she thanked us every day for saving her life …

She's hanging out on Rainbow Bridge now, no tumors, all her toes, restored to her natural health. Playing fetch and eating all the treats she wants …

We treat our pets better then we treat each other. You did a very hard thing but, you did the right thing. I feel for you and your family at this very difficult time. Hold your love for them forever and always have a heart with love for the next friend that joins your family in this very special way.

So sorry for ur loss! In 69, just got married, off on our own, at the mercy of the US Army! We got a kitten at the shelter, hauled her all over the country, paid a gzillion dollars for deposits, many years of fun!
One thing I remember well, each time we traveled with her, we made her a litter box, knowing as soon as we hit the "Big" road, she would use it! OMG, open windows weren't enough, sometimes we joked about taking the doors off....lol!
Then came that day, as much as we loved her we could not let her suffer, we endured the same pain as u did!
We let them go with dignity, free of the pain, the right thing for them!
God Bless!

@NJ - absolutely agreed. I know it was the rite thing, tho, that doesn't negate how horrible I feel for doing it. Thanks for your kind thoughts …

@Itr - my heart feels the sadness as I read your comment. Thankful for Rainbow Bridge, where our beluved four legged family members roam free with no ailments. It's pretty kewl she had an in-car litter box - LOL ... ya, with that being said, I'm onboard with the no car doors. Or, a gasmask ...

@Lets - pets are truly included in family. I don't know anyone has who a family X-Mas card that doesn't have their dogs, cats, birds, or whatever ...
