I haven't had the experiences you, or other women have had with mothers, so I can't comment. However, it reminds me (I'm not comparing, as the differences are quite whelming) of how my mom would change her behavior, and expected her children to change theirs, when we visited her tiny town in northern Kentucky. I guess my mom's change is an example of what you're talking about.

I remember discovering the original versions of the stories Disney used in creating those princesses. I was relieved and enthralled. I wish those stories were as well known.

Smart as a horse and hung like Einstein.

Bleach and oxyclean is what I use for deep scrubbing.

I know you didn't ask for any kind of advice but once that deep clean of the bathroom was done, you could make up a spray bottle of white distilled vinegar and water and spray that after your showers on the walls about once every other day and wipe down, and you will never have to use the lime away in huge doses again (notice I left it that you might still need it in nooks and corners).

Thank you! Thank you for saying that people should go volunteer. And your other commenter, let's hope that he was suggesting another place to volunteer at and not to deflect or start a discussion with "whataboutism". I'm sick to death of people saying "What about..." and completely detracting from a situation that is dire.
