The Village Voice - NYC Publication

Living in central Jersey and hitting the streets of NYC back in the 70's and 80's I used the Village Voice publication as my bible. The publication taught me where all the cool places to go were.

In 1976 I turned 18 and was old enough to hit the clubs and work.

1977, I ended up working as a hostess ....yeah right - a little more than that at The Show World Center on 8th Ave in Times Square. Talking about sleaze but I had so much fun back in the day. Getting an education was all about street smarts. I grew up so quickly.

Still living in Jersey, and driving into NYC roughly 3 days a week I started making real friends with guys & girls who lived in the city.

Being a crossdresser and dressing as a female before I enetered NYC everyone I met only knew my female side.

Talking about making life twice as hard....

Back in the day I mostly hung out in the Times Square area. It was such in area to be so acceptable to whatever scene you were into.

All that time spent dressed as a female It got to the point I felt more comfortable dressed as a female.I always felt so in control.

I truly hated when the night would end and I had to get back on the Jersey Turnpike and change back into my guy self...

In the early 80's I somehow ended up being into the New Wave /Punk scene. Yes... Thanks again to the Village Voice for turning me onto so many great clubs.
Limelight, CBGBs, Max's Kansas City, Trax, Privates, Peppermint Lounge, Danceteria etc...

and let's not forget an after hours club called "The Nursery" . This place ended up being my favorite hangout.

Village Voice - I Thank You!

And what exactly does a hostess DO at Show World....
I think you're holding back here....
That HAD to be so interesting. . At least it wasn't the *mop up* crew.

Yeah, the Village voice was a great paper to read to find out just WHAT was going on in the City. . And the Personal Ads were pretty damn unusual, too!

What an unusual life you've had.

BTW, I see that you're listed as a T. . So if someone referred to you, what do you prefer? . Being called a He, or a She? . I never know what's the right thing to do, but it's really up to that person anyway.

Cute ...very cute. I was first hired to bring back guys to the booth where the females were working. In time, yes...I also performed a bit myself. Fun for the first year. It did get old after awhile. But I did make a good name for myself.

Regarding the "T" more of a she is good. But either is fine.
