Today is the Feast of the Birth of Saint John the Baptist....the ONLY feast on the Catholic calendar that celebrates a BIRTH not a DEATH of a saint... this was done to co opt the Pagans who celebrate the birth (or re birth ) of the Lord of Night (not evil) at the Summer Solstice (June 21) ....and for those of you looking forward in time... today is exactly 6 months from Christmas Eve
