It's just a body Someone just told me that I inspired one of their friends...... Because of how I look. I want to cry. I'm petite. I have muscles and a great shape. But that's just my body. My shell. I am in great physical shape. I exercise regularly. I don't care what shape or form it gives my body. I do it because I'm at high risk of osteoporosis. I do it because I like greasy food and I don't want to have health issues. I do it because I want to be strong. I do it because I love the endorphin high that comes from a hard workout. i do it because it's an hour a day that I don't have to think about anything other than moving my body. I do it because I've done it every other day since I was 12 years old, it's a habit. I don't do it to be "hot." "Hot" is subjective. Some people love the pin up girl hourglass figures. Some like big<b> butts. </font></b>Some like tight tummies. Others like more waiflike builds. Anyone who's worth a damn will look at what's inside, and find you irresistible regardless of your packaging. What's inside won't change, the wrapping might. Of all the things about me that could be an inspiration, I'm horrified that someone picked the way I look. I like myself, my true self, my heart and my spirt, let that be your inspiration. Look inside, see what's great about you. Love it.  |

It is unfortunate but true, that the first attraction is ALWAYS physical... It has to be.. When you first meet someone, you don't know anything about them EXCEPT how they look.. You are correct in that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", and not everyone responds to the same body type/facial features/manner of dress as everyone else... That being said, do not take offense if someone compliments your appearance... Once they get to know you, their opinion will be ether strengthened or changed by your interaction... THEN you will know if the attraction is more than "skin deep"... Pleasing women in unbelievable ways for 45 years... You could be next...

Very true, looks can only go so far, there is so much more to a person then just looks.

Perhaps it is also the work ethics that you show in your muscular package which inspires her as well. Suppose your form inspires someone to a new confidence, or just more secure in their own skin...that is nothing to be horrified about. Perhaps it's not about you at all some people just need a reason to change, any reason......so kudos to your being someone's inspiration there are far worse things in life.

Do they know you well enough to see beyond the physical? If someone is making positive changes of any kind because of you, just smile and say you're glad that you were an encouragement.

Having said that, physical you is just as much a part of you as intellectual you, spiritual you, soulful you, etc. ? It has become fashionable to say that admiration of physical beauty is superficial, that inside everyone is beautiful. Well, to start with that's nonsense, plenty of people aren't beautiful on the inside. And those that are... are they any more responsible for their good natures than physically attractive people are responsible for their external beauty? And let's be honest, the vast majority of people have some physical preferences when it comes to choosing sexual partners

Wow !!! So eloquent, so insightful, so intuitive ! All of your blogs are amazing. I wish I was able to express myself that well. I'm sure you are an excellent nurse, but I think you missed your calling as a writer !! Dave

I do it because I was adopted and then found out later my biological dad died at 53, and guess what? I'm 53. But he lived a bad life, drinking, drugs, all that. Died in a one room apartment, of cardiac arrest and no one gave a damn. I have a few months until 54, maybe then I can rest easy.
