A Stinkbug Horror Story

I was tired, this morning, when I first pulled myself out of bed.

Rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I stumbled into the kitchen and started setting up the Kureg to make myself a cup of coffee.

Pop!

I had backed up a step to throw the old coffee pod into the trash when I heard a loud popping sound from beneath my bare foot.

Glancing down, I saw a a glob of green liquid on the floor about four inches from my heel.

"What the hell??"

Trying to figure out where it came from, I picked up my right foot and glanced under it.

"Oh my God! Ew!! Oh my God!! Ew!"

on the floor, right before my very eyes, was a squished stink bug, leg side up.

I had managed not NOT notice this stink bug on the floor in my kitchen but I had also managed step on with my bare feet and NOT NOTICE I had done so!

Every part of me wanted wither up and die as I cleaned up the crime scene with a paper towel.

I may need some therapy for this one!

Happy Thursday!

Oh the poor little bug all it's wanted was a warm place to stay during the winter and now you killed the little stinker.
What will it's family think ,friends say day gone away
Even the cat don't have a friend to play with now .

This I found on Google it may help.

What attracts and kills stink bugs?

A simple combination of hot water, dish soap, and white vinegar is suggested to be an effective "trap" for stink bugs. (Farm & Dairy recommends filling a spray bottle with 2 cups of hot water, 1 cup of white vinegar, and 1/2 cup dish soap, then spraying the bugs directly.)Feb. 7, 2020

I read some essential oils will repel them, like mint. Spray it or put in corners. Also, leave outside lights off at night. According to an article. Google them.
I am critter phobic. I exterminate quarterly.
I just realized my outside lights were on.... I went and turned them off. I'm still getting used to how dark it is out here, after having lived in town for as long as I have, I've forgotten what it's like to not have a street light in the parking lot or even off in the distance.

Ha ha ha ha Now I'm going to be picturing this in the back of my mind every time I see a stink bug.

How did you not have to evacuate the house due to the smell! I was petsitting at a house recently where the stinkbugs were like the flies in Amityville Horror... I got one on my shirt and flicked it off when I was taking their dogs out and when I came back inside I could have sworn it came in with me, the stink was still so strong! And I didn't even squish it!!
I sprayed the hell out of everything with Febreeze. It was not pretty.

Your choices are simple; block every single hole, crevice, nook and cranny — that those tiny buggers can possibly be using as an entrance into your home. (*which may take a decade or two *)

Plant ant and critter traps all over the place, to capture them. (*you'll need hundreds, at least.*)

Obviously, carrying bug spray and a broom, on your person — at ALL times — is a given.

Have you tried charming them out? 🤔 You know, with your smile?

The last option for you, is to learn how to cohabitate with them. Didn't ya live with a guy... once?
It's sorta like that, but you'll be totally ignoring each other.

Hmmm... reminds me of the last few years with my EX. 🤔❗❗
I lived with my ex husband for 17 years.... But he was also my bug killer. He was brutal, he could squish them under his thumb, was his hands, and keep moving on with his day. Living in the second floor apartment, I didn't get all that many bugs, and I didn't even really realize it until now. I would see a spider from time to time but that was it.

If it was leg side up, I don't think it was a crime scene. Well, unless it had a pillow under it's head and a blanket over it. Yeah, it's still not a pleasant way to start your morning, with a dead body on the floor. Eeewwwww.......

Bugs in general freak me out, certain ones more than others. Stink bugs are one of those that make my skin crawl just looking at them.... Possibly because you find them in the oddest spots? The ceiling, on the shower curtain rod, inside the window on the window screen?? How do they get there?!?

I am learning that very quickly. I have no idea where all these bugs are coming from! I just found a pill bug making it's way across my bathroom floor.
