How was my day?

How was my day?

Allow me share!

started with me falling flat on my ass in the parking lot at work this morning.

That was amazing!

I was doing every last thing you should NOT be doing in an icy parking lot. Walking fast, not paying attention, eyes glued a cell phone.... would been a miracle if I had not fallen.

Of course this happened right in front of an employee.

"Are you ok???"

I tried pretend I didn't hear her, or see the horror splayed across her face, as I clumsily managed maneuver onto my hands and knees and figure out how I was going to get back on my feet.

was no way I was going be able do this without help.

"I think I need your help. It's really fucking icy."

Not going lie, the bad knee is weak and makes a challenge for me when this kind of stuff happens.

Nothing like leaving your humility in your icy parking lot ass print.....

I made it back my office and had taken off my coat and boots when Nose Hairs appeared in my door.

"You ok?"

Oh good lord.... He already knew about the fall. was his employee had helped me and she had immediately gone and told him.

"I'm so embarrassed. Did she tell you I fell?"

"Yah, she said I should go on you. You were on the phone when I walked through, you must been telling [leadership]."

"I was. I'm fine, just really embarrassed. About the thing injured in the fall was my pride."

We talked for a few minutes and he seemed truly concerned.

was during this conversation that I realized.... I think I'm developing feelings for this guy, nose hairs and all.

Ugh....

That can end horribly.

I'll save that headache for another day.

There's a song like that... I HATED it and would cringe whenever I'd hear it on the radio. Do you remember it or was it before your time? 🤔
The only song I can think of is the one that Buffy the Vampire Slayer sings when she's in the graveyard.... Is that the one?

Thankfully I did have someone there to help me, as embarrassed as I was, I was very appreciative as well. When I saw her later on in the day I called her into my office to thank her for her kindness and concern and let her know I appreciated her help. I'm always amazed at how surprised people get when you thank them for being kind. We don't thank each other nearly enough.

That was a wise old boss, I also believe in that philosophy myself. I've seen way to many office romances go bad....

I've always just seen him as a friend, he kind of took the place of my Work BFF when he left.

I'm hoping you're OK after your ice dancing experience. That sudden stop at the end (of the fall) can be painful, leave marks and have possible future downsides.
So far so good, I was most worried that I'd janked up my bad knee, but it was fine. I think the part that helped was that I didn't see it coming. I had already fallen and was sitting flat on my ass before I realized I even fell.

I once did a most ungraceful and painful (ankle turn) fall when I was about 8 months pregnant right in front of the daycare owner (was picking up firstborn). I didn't just turn my ankle tripping over my own feet (which I could no longer see), but then proceeded to roll a few feet in my full rotund glory. She had a look of horror on her face. Did she think i was gonna deliver right there on her parking lot? Anyway, ankle and pride hurt aside - it still makes me cringe seventeen years later. LOL

Also...lol about you and nose hairs.
I also have biffed it in front of day care people. Ugh.... She had big dogs and one had dug a hole next to her sidewalk. I was carrying the Mighty Marine, he was only a baby at the time, and had my back turned, stepped in the hole, and twisted my ankle also. I might have been able to catch my fall had I not been carrying a baby, but my main focus was keeping him safe.

It's horrible when it gets icy where I live. Sometimes they don't even bother to grit the roads.
I'd have trouble getting up if I slipped as well.
I hope you're not feeling too sore now?
Aside from my injured pride, every thing is fine. I didn't even get a bruise. Silver linings!

It's not something I would ever act on. I've seen more than one workplace romance go up in flames and I don't ever want to find myself in that same spot. I've been watching a workplace relationship implode before my very eyes over the course of the last 3 weeks as it is. Restraining orders, missed shifts, drama scenes..... It's been a real joy. Besides, this guy already has a girlfriend, the last thing I want to do is be a homewrecker to someone.

I'm ok, nothing was hurt. I totally didn't see it coming and didn't realize I'd fallen until I was on the ground, so, I didn't get all tensed up and freaked out. I think it helped.
