Street Lights

reading where the police were called for an eight year girl taking her for a walk.

Sure nobody wants to see a harmed but what in the hell is going on anymore? I recall the rule was to come home when the street light came on. And as our house was only a few blocks away we were allowed to go home for lunch at school. The funny thing is these point I made when living in a curtain home, one which we moved from shortly after I started the first grade. My point being I was far younger then this girl making her situation even worse.

My are grown thankfully but I would have more fear of what they're up to with their nose pressed against their cell phone then roaming around the general area of my home. Shit can and will happen but it's far better if they learn life skills which I don't think they get via the Internet. I knew most everyone that lived near to us and they knew who I was. I can't but feel they kept an eye out for me like I do with the that live by me now.

Just because your are under your roof that doesn't make them safe. I think that makes parents lazy for how many monitor what their are doing on their phones/computers.

We train/teach our how to be safe and what to do if something seems wrong. With that I would have no problem letting either of my daughters walking the around the corner when they were eight. Sure something could still happen but that's true of everything, but I do so knowing I did my do diligents to do so.
