Rememberence Day

Transgender Day of Remembrance
The 20th of this month marks Transgender Day of Remembrance. A day that remembers all those people of the Transgender community that have been murdered simply for being born different.

Unfortunately there seems to be a rise in hate-filled ideologies across many countries that we would normally associate with more progressive, tolerant and educated beliefs. This is a worrying trend, and one that is made no more less worrying by the imminent rolling back of legal protections for Transgender people in the United States, a country that has for many been a beacon of human rights across the world.

This day of remembrance should provide a thought provoking time for those who would have us lurch back into a less understanding or tolerant world. A world where bigotry and intolerance hold sway over common decency and the ability to live and let live.

I among many, can only hope that common sense and basic human decency will prevail, and that we can continue to move forward as a progressive and forward thinking society. One that can focus its efforts on the more pressing needs of humanity and this world, rather than the petty hatreds and bigotries that some of us thought - or had at least hoped, had been consigned to the history books.

So let's remember those that have fallen prey to the hate filled few, in the hope that they will remind the many, of just how destructive intolerant beliefs and behaviours of all kinds can be for our society as a whole, and maybe, we can learn to live together in a more peaceful and prosperous world.

People have trouble accepting anything that is different to what they perceive as being 'different from them'. You're right Cathy for hoping for change but I feel that it is incumbent upon all of us as individuals to do whatever we can to realize this change; 'we ARE the change' after all

Hello there, you know i never knew of what you just posted till i just read this, never knew there was day for trans day remembrance day.
Mind you i know way back in time it was really bad and in some Countries its still really bad in fact really bad for trans as i hear.
Your probably right to about the hate, i can say sadly in Toronto and the GTA sadly once again the vast majority have brought this on due to there attitudes, drugs and hustling for money the hate aspect part i think is big in Toronto/GTA but if they were more like you and others on here be a different story..
Ive noticed on this site there seems to be more real and honest trans then there is in the Toronto/GTA.
as for the killings is not right if there should be any hate lets say should towards the muslims who are trying to change the way we live in North America and would kill gays, bis, and trans a like so your not kidding about your words.
But you make a lot of good points though too not all trans are douches just like not all guys or women are douche bags either.
I think if there was more trans like your self it would be much better well in Toronto and the GTA it be much better nicer but theres not many around here that have that respect ect in what your talking about.
Your so right though wish there was more of yous here i must say be much different story i think.
You seem like pretty nice decent woman though over all despite being a sex site i know lol
thank you for informing me though never knew till now.
