OK, so some of you may know where this is coming from, so shh!

This is a question of personal curiosity and in looking for an answer I have decided to ping you folks out there on the land of interwebz! For some unknown reason my blog gets a shit ton of traffic, so I suppose the best way to get some traction on my thought process is to harness that and see what we come up with!! Plus this is a topic that seems to have fallen to the wayside and there has been no data to support a drop in new STD infections, maybe we can raise some awareness with this mess.

Some folks want to weigh in, but be anon, so I decied to make this as a nifty poll thing, so after reading this please vote, and if you are so inlined please feel free to weigh in!

SAFE SEX!!

What is safe sex really? Is is knowing? your partners? Is it getting tested regularly? Is it using condoms for intercourse only? Is it using condoms and dams for oral? What about gloves?
What *is* safe sex to you??

I'm gonna start with my opinion, based on our expereinces in the past and currently with new ventures.

I've always viewed condoms as a pregnancy prevention measure, because those women we were with we were very attracted to and there would be a lot of kissing, and there would be oral sex all around, and at the time dental dams were something virtually unheard of. To my mind, if you are using condoms for STD prevention, but you are willing to suck cock or eat pussy with nothing in between, WHY are you bothering with a condom??
Seriously, mucus membranes in your mouth are just as susceptible to many things, and your gums can bleed exposing her to other fun shit, it kind of defeats the purpose of wearing a condom if I'm just going to slam my face in her crotch and try to lick her belly button from the inside. Just sayin,...

I'm also adding the topic of using gloves, but not making it an individual selection because of the nature of their use and the varying needs. To explain, I have a partner who has very delicate tissues inside her vagina, but she loves good manual stimulation. However ungloved hands can, and frequently do, lead to serious pain and an early end to an otherwise glorious fuck. For instance I have some rough dry skin on my fingers, and that's not to mention nails and cuticles, so her desire for people to use gloves makes perfect sense when you look at it from a comfort perspective. *But*, on the STD front, while the skin on our hands is normally very resilient to infection *when* it is intact, I personally have a problem with skin drying, cracking, and coming off, thus opening up actual wounds on my hands (not to mention the nature of my work frequently leaves me with open cuts and scrapes), any of which I don't imagine any woman would want inside her vagina.
There are also group scenarios where you may be touching more than one person and stopping to wash their juices off your hands just isn't practical, but gloves,....

So, opinion aside, here's the options and a bit of detail:

#1: Serial monogamy is self explanatory. You are with one person, period. Neither of you stray, you are safe and clean with each other because there are no others.

#2: I trust my partner/s. You believe the people you are with are clean and responsible, so really, condoms are only for prevention of pregnancy if you even use them for that.

#3: You use condoms juuuuuust in case, but not really for oral sex, coz really, who wants to suck on a balloon, right?

#4: Wrap it up buddy! Always wear condoms, oral, vaginal, anal, whatever, it's under cover or not at all!

#5: Same as #4, but when muff diving you use dental dams as well.

#6: All of it, rubbers, dames, gloves, whatver. Safe and sane baby. It sounds like a lot, but you only have to get ghonoherpasyphalAIDS once to fuck up the odds!

There's a lot of shit out there, and while we personally don't get out for some strange as often as we used to, we try to keep in touch with the mentality of the community, and if we can raise some awareness while we are at it, hey, bonus!
