George Moore once said, "A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to fnd it." Sometimes we have go away to appreciate where we were. Hang in there.

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”

Yeah Florida is really terrific. I just got back from there myself. Too bad about the occasional hurricanes or I'd be living there myself. Me? well I am on this site because it is the one place I can post my erotic stories without getting banned or put in Facebook jail. I enjoy sharing with others and it' all for entertainment. Welcome to blog land~! You needed one comment to move your blog from the "new blog" list to the regular list that everyone reads. Looks like you got that covered... Now if you have a moment, swing by my blog and say hello in the comments. WARNING content is rated X and will involve reading 4 letter words and references to sexual situations~! So don't come by if this doesn't interest you. And if it DOES......................... Leave a message so I will see you there. Jimmy B.[

My blog JimmyB7474 is called Into The Woods (erotica) entertaining stories about a guy named Jimmy. Enjoy.

I come from a big city too. I use to live in DC , so having everything nearby and diversity of the people was a big thing. Making this big move was idea but a necessary one for me. Naple and Ft Myers are too overrated for what they are suppose to have. I think you might of been off trying a smaller area, like where I live. Because it is smaller things are near like being in the big city and there is so much to do because people need some stress relief and fun. But like I said I get it, coming from a big city to here Florida is a big step. But I'm sure you will be ok, explore more of the place maybe you find that Naples isn't all that. I have seen it and really for me it isn't. We have better beaches up here, no worry of water run off from the river. When they do a run off the beaches down there suffer most of summer, up here no worry about that all.

Thanks for writing this. I've thought of moving to Florida. Love the water, but I also love the mountains and skiing. I kind of feel that Florida is where people go to die. Dilemma!

Great insight. I spent 10 months there and found the same thing. I was drawn by the water and loved it. But everything else is disappointing. I'm convinced that Florida is where people go and wait to die. I'm spending 3 months in Wyoming skiing then off to Arizona or Texas for a month or two.

Unfortunately, there isn't anything you can do to change the people. As far as location, it may come down to a compromise. You said that you love the sun and the beach, but that you also like being near the festivals and concerts. You may need to figure out which one you like best. The beach and warm weather, or the big city life. Pick your favorite and live there, then make the other a destination vacation.

Florida in most cases isn't sophisticated enough for some people who are used to the sophistication of a major metro area.

I bought a beach condo in Panama City Beach to escape from Atlanta - and have though about relocating permanently, but have found that there's just not enough to do unless you have your own business to keep you busy.

Yes, too many people come here, slow down, and wait to die. And their attitudes ("I'm retired, so I get to be an asshole") suck.

I agree with you, very disappointing. I don't even care for the weather. I moved here for a job. I am getting a kayak soon, perhaps that will help me out of this melancholy.

Can relate. Loved living in Chicago. By far the city with the best summers in the world. Pequod's, Boystown, Lake shore fireworks twice a week, and the most all-around beautiful people are sorely missed. As will accessibility to anything and everything at any time. From the south, and previously lived in Jax until 2011; moving to Chicago was eye-opening in a lot of ways, and coming back here felt like being a stranger again. As far as advice goes, I'd try to find the right people to be around and ignore everyone else. Let them choke on their hater tots. Hope you've had some great experiences here. Best of luck going forward.

Jville ain't that bad. You must be hanging on the wrong side of town. No it is not big city life but if you look you can find about anything.

You're right. Moved from the Bosotn area to Central Florida and oh wow....culture shock! They roll up the sidewalks at 9:00pm. I miss the food and nightlife!
