Safe Sex with STD's?

I have been asked a lot lately why I don't think I can have any fun with others that have STD's, and I am just not sure how safe it is. I am 34 and D & D free, and I would really prefer to stay that way. What are ways that I can play with folks that do have STD's and remain safe? Will condoms keep me free of disease? What is the risk?
