Captive breeding farms for Lions.
Captive breeding farms for Lions. story by Jon Lockett for the Sun: April 29th 2019 Thousands of Lions are being raised in sickening farms so they can be gunned down by wealthy trophy hunters..Other big cats are being slaughtered just so their bones can be turned into " medicine" after being sold to dealers in the Far East. The revelation came to light after a year long investigation into the callous industry headed by UKL politician and Philanthropist Lord Ashcroft. His probe discovered some of the Lions are even being targeted inside the fenced enclosures by wealthy trophy hunters..The canned hunting industry is so despicable that even other hunting organizations want to distant themselves far away from being associated with the slaughter as possible.Among the shooters are the Brits who are paying thousands just for the privilege of bagging one of these magnificent beasts. Those lions that are not shot by the hunters are butchered in slaughter houses for their bones which is used to treat ailments such as rheumatism. Besides the bones , other body parts are in great demand as the lion symbol stands for strength and bravery which are believed to be transferred to the patient. The Global national Fund estimates that 1000 lions are killed annually for the bone trade including many in South Africa. Lord Ashcroft has now hit out at the British Government over its failure to ban the import of trophy skins'- a booming industry worth tens of millions of pounds a year. Shocking investigations revealed: are emailed photos of captive male lions so they can choose one to kill Hunters pay up to 42,000 pounds ( $ 54,000 ) for their kill depending on the size and quality of mane More than 50 lions were killed for bones at one breeding farm A Brit was filmed shooting at an exhausted lion with tranquilizer darts sticking from its rump in an illegal hunt Lions are kept in squalid cages before being slaughtered tourists are unwittingly encouraged to play with lion cubs to keep them tame Operation Simba discovered that there are more than 12,000 captive bred lions in South Africa -outnumbering wild ones in the country almost four to one...The cubs are taken from their mothers at two days old and hand reared ....and as the lions become too dangerous to be allowed near tourists some are supplied to South Africa's trophy hunting industry.. South Africa allows 800 captive bred lion skeletons to be exported each year .They fetch about $ 16.00 a kilo or ($ 5950.00) for a whole skeleton including the skull .Nearly all of the illegal sales go to Vietnam, Thailand and Laos where the bones are boiled down and made into a cake., investigators believe many more lion bones are leaving the country through illegal smuggling . I am sorry I do not have any pics because my pics are disappearing after I post the blog ...ah well the blog is pretty much self explanatory though |
