Sex and the Internet

Sex and the Internet

Just for fun I did a speed check of my internet today. I’m at about 60 Mbits per second. That’s pretty respectable. Remember AOL? They promised 56Kbits per second. Only about 1000 times slower. Last year as many as 2,000,000 people still used AOL dial up in the USA.

That got me to thinking… I used to be on this site back in the day when all we had was dial up. How would that even work in today’s world? Internet video didn’t work well if at all. Chat was OK. And on other sites, images took a while to load up, porn seemed to work ok. Now I can see it faster and at a better resolution. And thank goodness for that.

You might remember AOL chat and Yahoo chat. I used those quite a bit. I kind of miss those chat spaces. Yahoo chat rooms were awesome. They had a room for every kink, want, or desire. I think when started getting lured into places they weren’t suppose to be, Yahoo killed those rooms off. Probably a good thing over all.

Mostly I remember a deluge of AOL CDs coming in the mail. We used them as coasters.

I think it seems quaint as I look back. I remember waiting for broadband to come to neighborhood! ( I was in MI at that time!)

It's an amazing tool when used as such.

The only downside is its growing attraction too many
to create a subconscious yearning for
complacency,escapism and a false sense
of better judgement about those
they've never even met!Which in itself
has already opened a new field of
psychological study in mental illnesses.

Using more than all the road!

I remember the sound.Beeeeeeeepbrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooboooooopppppp.
Then when you're this close to connecting, someone calls you and it goes batshit ctrazy and you gotta tell whoever that just called, to not call for an hour, then go through the whole thing again

True! I think I learned to turn off the call waiting after a few times. And those tones were loud too! I remember hearing my neighbor's modem from upstairs.
