.......very nicely sent me points/tips before they IM me, so that i dont have to use my points to answer their IM. I have had three different golds to do so in the past week. One standard even did it. Im just saying that is what the site has forced them to do, if they want to talk to a non gold. Im also saying that i think its so very kind and thoughtful for them to do so. I dont know how they acquire their points, if they are bought or earned, but to send them along so that the person can answer their IM is a way of working around the current system. I think it was lonly who stated that even the golds are being restricted on who they can interact with, because standards cannot respond in kind. I just have to acknowledge and thank those who have figured out a way to carry on, business as usual. Also would like to thank the point giveaways bloggers. Thats another way of helping out. I won the points giveaway once and shared the wealth with others. We must stick together in this mess~~ ......and a special thanks to Mr Ab.... this morning for being the fire that sparked this blog.

ok....yes that is how most accumulate points. Ive also been told that some purchase them. There are a couple of men that i know who have let their membership lapse as there are too many glitches and the site has been known to auto renew without authorization. Just as we all have our reasons for being here....we also all have our reasons for not being or remaining gold members. I wouldnt paint anyone with such a broad brush. Thanks for your perspective...its appreciated ~~ ....and hey....im a chatroom person too, as well as blogs and groups and IM....its called diversity and well roundedness.

Where did this word come from, that blogs are going to be points based? I've seen it posted around but nobody can point out the official line on it.... so far it's just been rumor. Why not just do an icebreaker and get a free gold? Unless those aren't available any more?

It will be interesting to see if you are pleased with the gold...or ...as others have said....frequently frustrated, as the site is still quirky at times. Im always in wait to see what the next changes are on the horizon. For me...i am less inclined to answer IM's, before i would always answer as i thought it rude to not answer. I would just say....." sorry but i am already talking here ". I can no longer afford to do that though ~~

The ice breaker may still be available, i know i checked it out...but they wanted personal info and a photo that i was /am not willing to disclose. The site has been hacked more times than a few and has been known to auto renew without authorization. It pays to be cautious imho~~

.......and when i investigated it, they wanted a photo added to the profile and a phone number. That was around the end of summer~~

I can understand the site making it so a Standard cannot send mail but as you mentioned not letting them read mail from a Gold restricts the Gold. Charging points to answer is harsh but certainly is an indication of interest. And if a Gold is truly interested they can send points to get an answer. If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin." I always behave. Preferably not well.

Pay for the right to post? I forecast that a lot of blogs will be voluntarily removed by their owners, and moved elsewhere.

Paying to blog? Since that's all I do here I would have to think about it and probably would move elsewhere. I guess it depends on if they actually fix the numerous weird changes and edits that regularly deface what I post and make them incomprehensible. Why would anyone pay to blog where the posts are butchered so badly by the editing process here?

Yeah, sounds cheap but the site ux and code is awfull, the only thing to keep you here is the blogging buddies we've made over the years.... Yeah, there are some pretty nice people on here.... One thing you COULD do is set up a Private Mail BOx - on your blog. Have you thought about it? It's easy and you could direct people to HERE. Just another suggestion. If you are interested, I could send simple directions.
