Alcohol

I am frequently asked why I don’t drink and I find it such an odd question .

I would ask those that ask me that question some questions .

Why would I want to drink something that doctors use to sterilize their surgical equipment ?

Why would I want to ingest a poison so toxic that it causes so many people to vomit all the time ? Is it really that much fun? I know that it is generally younger teenagers or younger people that vomit more than adults but that is even more concerning because that tells me their healthy bodies don’t even want to process it at all which also speaks to how highly toxic it is . That is the body’s final line of defense to protect our organs . The only other time I vomit is when I’ve eaten some really bad food which has only been a couple times in my life or if I’m extremely sick .

Hangovers are a classic example of the body trying to deal with processing such a toxic substance . Why would I want to experience something like that rather than waking up full of energy and feeling great about life ?

I really enjoy great sex, great food, great conversation, righteous skiing, gnarly mountain biking, a great nights sleep and other fine pleasures in life and I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would think that poisoning oneself on a regular basis is somehow fun .

Anyhow, this is not intended to change anyone’s opinion on drinking if you are already a drinker . I realize that 90% of American adults drink and I am the odd man out and frankly I don’t give a damn . Hopefully what I am saying rings true to those of you that are either trying to get away from it or those that may be contemplating drinking . Life is way too precious and way too much fun to be under the illusion that this toxic poison will somehow make your life better .

I'll drink to what Lala said.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
